| Beautiful meolody and delicate arrangement under the noise This is the second album of Pale Saints, and it's the most "listenable" shoegazing album I have ever come across. Under the heavy noise sound scape of the shoegazing scene runs the smooth and beautiful melody. It might have made it a little pop-oriented but it's surely more pleasant to listen to. | javier i really feel more comfortable listening to their "the comforts of madness". it's obviously more shoegaze than this record. this one sound more like dream pop, than shoegaze. although it's a great album, more accesible and with lighter tendencies. By javier (santiago, chile) |
| A Master(s)piece This, along with The Comforts of Madness, is the most interesting shoegaze album. It's not that the other shoegaze albums aren't good, they totally are, it's just that this one is better. It's more than just a strictly shoegaze album. There's a wider range of song structures and instrumentation and altogether it is more innovative than the typical shoegaze album, yet it retains all the good qualities of shoegaze music. For a fan of shoegaze music, you're music collection has a gaping hole in it without In Ribbons and The Comforts of Madness. By Greg Manata (Paso Robles, CA, USA) |
| Pale Saints True Final Album In Ribbons was in opinion the Pale Saints true final entry, after its release its mastermind and guitar player Ian Masters had departed along with his angelic voice, the band never got it back afterwards! The album is undeniably charming, graceful and innocent to an extent, pastoral sounding with songs like "Shell" yet explosive bursting with shoegaze noise with tracks like"Throwing back the apple". I really don't quite grasp the reason why amazing "Shoegaze" albums by groups such as Chapterhouse,Cranes and Pale Saints are never reissued because they certainly should be!
