Harris' final album with longtime producer (and husband) Brian Ahern is among her most surprising and diverse, perhaps the closest she's ever come to a straightahead rock LP. Among the unusual cover choices: Johnny Ace's "Pledging My Love" and Donna Summer's "On the Radio." ~ Jason Ankeny

Emmylou Harris White Shoes Songs White Shoes Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) Rockin' Good Time!! Dubbed Emmylou's rock'n'roll album, this disc delivers! "In My Dreams", one of her biggest hits is here, as well as top notch interpretations of Donna Summer's "On The Radio" and Marilyn Monroe's "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend". All of the tunes are slightly more edgy than anything she had recorded prior. This disc has it all. Definitely great jam, especially on the Rodney Crowell penned tune, "It's Only Rock N' Roll". This one is a keeper and a must for any Emmylou collection. Highly recommended! Submitted by a reviewer (Wytheville, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Rockin EMMYLOU This is avery good Emmylou album!! This is also one of the most not Emmylou album yet, but that doesen`t matter. It stars with a good rocking number( Driving weel ) and ends with one of Emmylou best ballads ever. This is however Emmylou`s last album produced by her husband Brian Ahern Who poduced all of her album from 1975-1983but its not a typically Country album. On this cd you can easyaly hear that Emmys voice sounds raspy(because of yeras of touring) but it somehow fits the songs. also highlights are Pleading my love, In my dreams,It`s only rockin roll. And Old fashion waltz. Try this album you will love it!!! Submitted by a reviewer (6460 Eidsvaag. Norway) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

White Shoes
$10.49 1990's BRAND NEW DANCE, Emmylou Harris' 16th studio album, is another in a line of excellent efforts by one of modern country's finest artists. The album was Harris' first (excepting a Christmas album and a gospel record) to fail to produce a Top 40 country hit. Abandoned by the commercial country machine (or liberated from it, depending on your take), Harris would soon begin experimenting ...
| | Emmylou Harris Ballad Of Sally Rose CD (1985)
White Shoes
$11.19 This is one of the most intriguing albums of Emmylou Harris' career, and that is saying a lot. It marked the first album where she wrote or co-wrote all the songs, and the strength of the songwriting makes one wonder why she had never attempted it before. One can tell that this album is truly a labor of love, as it is a semi-autobiographical concept album that she also co-produced. It tells the story of a girl from a small town who gets taken under the wing of singer that takes her (and her angelic voice) out on the road. (The story mirrors her relationship with Gram Parsons, although it is a fictional account of the life of another woman.) As a concept album, it only partly holds together; one must read the ...

White Shoes
$17.75 Michael O’Neill’s latest CD, “Who’s Bad Now” is a collection of songs a long time in the making. Not due to a tedious, protracted recording process, oh no. The music presented here -- as with any great gumbo -- couldn’t have been made without a carefully cultivated seasoning, a spicy, rich tapestry of a life that’s been lived to the fullest; music that’s been made not just by living the length of one’s life, but by living the width and the breadth of it as well.Michael’s songs are born from these experiences, exploring the parameters of his muse, testing the limits, like driving cross country with the top down, pedal to the metal, or walking along a river barefooted, mud squishing between your toes; not a care in the world yet a clarity suffused by someone who’s ...
