INCOGNEGRO is also available on Def Jam South Records [584 137] as BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME with three new tracks.
This is a unique case of an album having two lives. Initially released on a relatively small, underground hip-hop label, INCOGNEGRO took the rap audience by storm to such an extent that Ludacris was snapped up quickly by Def Jam, who decided to use it to initiate their new Def Jam South imprint. The DJS reissue of the album was retitled BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME, and gave Ludacris a shot at an even bigger audience.
Not too shabby for a new artist, even one as talented as Ludacris. Though the presence of some of the South's finest artists, such as Lil' Troy and UGK, may help to increase interest in this album, it's Ludacris's unique hip-hop vision that is the central focus here, combining intense urban scenarios with infectious funk, complex rhyming patterns, and undeniable lyrical skills.
Personnel includes: Ludacris, 2-D, F.R.T.E., Shrwnna, 4-Ize, Chimere, Pastor Troy.
Personnel: Ludacris (vocals, rap vocals).
Audio Mixer: Mike Wilson.
Recording information: Patchwerk Studios, Atlanta, GA; Sound Asylum Studios, College Park, GA. Ludacris is one of the best! I liked this album by Ludacris. It sounds a lot like some of his recent stuff, but if you are a Ludacris fan, this album is a must. Submitted by a reviewer (Herndon, VA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The Better Version of Back For The First Time This Ludacris Second Best Album Next to Word of Mouf and better than Red Light District.
You don't really want to listen Back for the First Time's Fantasy Remix, or Phat Rabbit 10 times a day right? So get this, because lyrically, It wasn't Us and Rock n a Hard Place were excellent tracks.
They didn't put these two tracks in Back For The First Time because the beat and style was slightly loose from the other Back for the First time tracks. Anyhow most artist today have bad tracklisting, and the one for Incognegro is actually not that bad. So buy it, its still better than Back For The First Time. Incognegro album
$11.45 BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
After the runaway success of his debut INCOGNEGRO, Ludacris answered demand for a follow-up with BACK FOR THE FIRST TIME, his Def Jam South debut, which features many of the same cuts as the former album, plus three new songs. Here Ludacris continues his mission to get bodies shaking, both down South in his hometown of Atlanta, and beyond.
The remix to his hit single, "What's Your Fantasy," features two of the sassiest girls in hip-hop, Foxy Brown and Trina. "Southern ...

$10.45 WORD OF MOUF was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album.
"Rollout (My Business)" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Male Rap Solo Performance.
For this Atlanta-based rapper, keeping true to street roots has never been a concern, since he's always remained so close to them. Far from the east and west coast hip-hop star mills, this southern sensation rose up from the underground and never abandoned what he'd learned there. His third album WORD OF MOUF may find Ludacris surrounded by a brace of guests that include both heavy hitters (Mystikal, Jagged Edge, Nate Dogg) and more unknown names (Sleepy Brown, Keon Bryce, Fate Wilson), but he draws on his own considerable verbal skills and unique urban vision as the foundations ...
| | Ludacris Chicken & Beer CD (2003)
Incognegro music CDs
$10.45 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
In the year leading up to the release of his third disc, CHICKEN & BEER, Ludacris' distinguished drawl could be heard all over the radio on commanding guest appearance after guest appearance, most notably on Missy Elliott's smash "Gossip Folks." Not that he needed any more airplay--his first two major releases already had the Georgian rapper well established as one of the most accomplished Dirty South crossover acts.
CHICKEN & BEER is an apt title for the ravenously hungry record with few moments of sobriety, as Ludacris unleashes his most gentle of furies. In "Southern Fried Intro," he unabashedly admits to throwing all styles, even pop, into his musical stew, before firing the full-out assault of "Blow It Out," a measured, righteous, anthemic response to his doubters and detractors, including an on-point slap at talk show host Bill O'Reilly over their much-chronicled Pepsi flap. He then switches to seduction of the most swaggering brand on the hook-laden, dance-floor bound "Stand Up." As with Eminem, the way he allows his goofiness to ...
| | Ying Yang Twins Me & My Brother CD (2004)
Incognegro songs
$14.59 ME & MY BROTHER, the third album by Atlanta's Ying Yang Twins, follows the duo's prominently featured role on the Lil Jon & the Eastside Boys top 5 crossover hit "Get Low." In fact, the album capitalizes on that success immediately with "Georgia Dome," a sound-a-like sequel to that inescapable, infectious single. Crown Princes of Crunk, the Ying Yang Twins, Kaine and D-Roc, are all about following their ids, creating pared-down songs about sex, alcohol, blunts, and more sex--a formula the Twins use well. Kaine and D-Roc understand that there are values in simplicity and, indeed, the most memorable song is the catchphrase-worthy anthem "Hanh!"
Making the most of their guest appearance on ME & MY BROTHER, Lil Jon & the Eastside Boyz return a favor to the Twins, while adding one more song to the booty canon as they implore the ladies to shake it like a "Salt Shaker." And, in an inspired collaboration, two of the strongest, brashest voices to break out of the South--Killer Mike & Bone Crusher--trade rhymes on the predictably unchallengable "What The F***!" ME & MY BROTHER rolls ...
