| | Einsturzende Neubauten Drawings Of Patient O.T. CD (1983) Import
Disco Hits: Le Freak songs
$27.95 Recorded in London, England; Berlin and Hamburg, Germany from January to August, 1983.
Einstürzende Neubauten's second album, 1983's Zeichnungen des Patienten O.T. (Drawings of Patient O.T.), is less extreme than their 1981 debut, but it's still a challenging listen. The title comes from the drawings of Oswald Tschirtner, a Swiss mental patient whose work is prized by collectors of "outsider artists," and the comparison is apt. Einstürzende Neubauten's music has the same bizarre leaps of logic and random connections that one finds in that sort of visual or verbal art, although starting with this album, the music is just controlled and sculpted enough to reveal that yes, the group does know exactly what they're doing. ...

| | Francis Jacob Side-By-Side CD (2006)
Disco Hits: Le Freak songs
$16.39 The renowned international jazz guitarist Francis Jacob performs both acoustic and electric versions of the same compositions on this two-CD set. The acoustic section is a delightfully performed, laid-back West African-flavored set incorporating harmonica, percussion, and Gretchen Parlato's mellifluous vocals. The sequence is repeated in the second, "electric" set, with a more energetic, Afro-jazz slant.
Guitarist/Composer Francis Jacob was raised in Geneva, Switzerland. He started his course of music with the flute at the age of five, and later switched to guitar. His early major influences included the works of Jimi Hendrix and BB King among others. He later on discovered modern jazz guitar greats such as: George Benson, John Scofield and John Abercrombie. His peaked interest in jazz guitar led him to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Arriving in Paris in 1984, he co-founded the band "Force 7", with keyboardist Allie Delfaux, bassist Hélène Labarrière and drummer Aaron Scott. He also worked with the "Patrick Fabert Band", along with Jean-Marc Padovani, Jean-Luc Ponthieux and Jacques Mahieux. Francis then left for Brazil in 1989 where he studied Brazilian music and played with artists like Barrozinho and Tomas Improta. He arrived in New York in 1991, and founded the Francis Jacob project. While blending into New York City’s creative jazz scene, he worked in collaboration with percussionist Abass ...
