A Mixed Bag
Fans of Deep Purple will really like this CD. The instrumental tracks are superb, and feature Jon using three or four different keyboards in one song. Songs like "Rock and Roll Babes" and "Bach Onto This" harken back to Purple's "In Rock" period -- lots of keyboards with heavy percussion.
Unfortunately, Lord tries to write a few nice pop ditties on this collection and hires boozy-voiced singers for them. These songs do not work.
The remastered version of this CD includes bonus tracks, a radio interview and extensive liner notes. That alone makes it a collector's item.
