$14.25 Music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Lyrics by Charles Hart.
This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
It's a testament to Andrew Lloyd Webber's crowd-pleasing compositional skills that the original cast recording of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA went on to become the biggest-selling cast album ever. So when the time came to adapt his music for the film version of the monumentally successful theatrical work, Webber enlisted the aid of longtime collaborators Nigel Wright and Simon Lee. They produced an expanded orchestral version of the score, grander and more sumptuous than the original, and assembled a 100-member ensemble to do it justice.
However, the tragic story of the disfigured Phantom and Christine, the beautiful object of his desire, cannot be told without powerful performances of those roles. Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum quickly dispel any concerns regarding the adequacy of their portrayals. Butler's full-blooded renditions of "The Music of the Night" and the title song are tinged with a dark eroticism, while Rossum's account of "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" skillfully conveys her character's vulnerability and conflicted feelings. The soundtrack also features a newly penned song by Webber, the poignant "Learn to Be Lonely," sung by Minnie Driver, who appears in the role of Carlotta in the film.

$17.15 Late in 1999, I was asked by my cousin Brooke if I would be willing to contribute some music to a project he had begun, called 'Broken Saints'. It was planned as a 24-part series, presented online, combining his writing and direction with the artistic and programming talents of two other collaborators. At the time I was in the process of moving to Europe to pursue other musical goals, and could not work on the project full-time, so I offered him my back-catalogue of instrumental compositions; these subsequently became the core soundtrack for the first third or so of the series. After a year or so, two things became clear to us: first, that Broken Saints had touched a nerve with a growing internet community, obviously more than ready for storytelling of the depth and scope that Brooke and company were creating; and second, that they were going to need some more music. So began a period of compositional activity which, although I was unaware of it at the time, would dominate the next few years of my creative life. When we were at the end of this rather intense process, I thought it would be interesting to take some of the themes which had become important in the series, and put them into a different and more intimate musical setting: as a solo piano concert. Thus I have selected four themes - two from previously extant material, two composed specifically for the series - and used them as 'springboards' for the extended improvisations on this album. The resulting journeys, almost 78 minutes in total, took me quite far from the source material, but I hope I have not lost its essential spirit...A second concert from the same period but with an entirely different character is presented on a bonus disc, entitled 'The ...

Bird Songs
$24.89 On October 13, 1982, the Clash opened for the Who at the venerable New York stadium where the Beatles had once performed, and by all accounts, the crowd went nearly as wild for the punk vets, who were then at the height of their commercial clout. And while the band's explosive live energy and charisma were best suited for clubs, LIVE AT SHEA is a testament to a quartet that drew an audience right into their righteous intensity, no matter what the setting. Highlights include ferocious takes on early favorites "Career Opportunities" and "Tommy Gun," as well as bassist Paul Simonon's expertly laconic vocal performance on "Guns of Brixton." But hearing a reinvigorated "Rock The Casbah" is indicative of just what a lean, no-frills, powerful live machine The Clash had become. SHEA is a crucial document in the annals of a band whose legacy will likely never be exhausted.
Limited edition includes a bonus 24 page booklet and is packaged in a digi-book! This previously unreleased live recording captures the band on devastating form on the 13th October 1982 at the New York stadium, and has been fully remastered. This deluxe edition includes a 32 page hardbound book. Tracks, Kosmo Vinyl Introduction; London Calling; Police On My Back; The Guns of Brixton; Tommy Gun; The Magnificent Seven; Armagideon Time; Magnificent 7 (Return); Rock The Casbah; Train In Vain; Career Opportunities; Spanish ...
