4 starsThe Truth Behind the Legend
Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave film A real novelty item. Sneezy Water's portrayal of the legendary Hank Williams, whether based on fact or fic- is rivetting. The glamour of show busi-ness is tarnished somewhat by the "seedy bar" environment and the "unhappiness" of the star performer, despite his success. Those who worshipped his talent and personna were basically simple folk, very unsophisticated and easy to please. A truly fascinating tale.

The Best Hank Wiliams dramatization
Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave review There's 'Lost Highway', which isn't a very good play, there's the Elvis movie that never was starring George Hamilton who does his best with an atrocious script, and there's this, which is the one to get. Sneezy Waters depicts Hank doing the world's best ever bar gig. It's atmospheric and well staged, the Hank impression is very good - though Sneezy's far too old and his voice isn't strong - and any country music fan will enjoy it. However, I found the quality of the video to be only just acceptable - played on a MacBook, it looked like it had been videoed off a TV screen.

Sad Story
This is a great show. You can feel Hank's spirit in the songs Snezzy perform.

Excellent historical fiction!
Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave VHS for sale This is a powerful story that dramatically unravels the historical facts about Hank Williams life and career as he travels to his 'last show'. Don't expect special effects or over-staged acting. Acting and scenes are well done but in an exceptionally ordinary, nostalgic way. If you lived in that time and place, it would be like you were home.

This is a MUST see movie for any Hank Williams Fan!
Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave movie I have loved Hank William's music since I first heard him on the family radio as a small boy in the early 1950s. I had seen a portion of this film on television several years ago and was intrigued by the acting job done by Bucky Waters. He makes Hank Williams come alive in every imaginable manner - he is so convincing that one can easily suppose he or she is watching Hank himself. The setting, activities and music in this Canadian filmed and produced movie is very realistic in keeping with the character and down-home aura of what was arguably country music's greatest star. All that I have ever heard or read of "Luke the Drifter" supports the characterization portrayed in this entertaining film. Everyone in the film is quite believable and the scenery and acting takes the viewer back to an era and life style long past. I was pleased that there was great emphasis put on Hank's thoughts concerning God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Perhaps the film's message does not fit well in the political correctness conscious society we have gravitated to in our day, but it certainly presents the attitudes, impressions, and personality of Hank Williams Sr in a correct and frankly honest manner. I am a 60-year-old man and I wept the last 15 minutes of this very moving film. My only complaint with this movie is that it could have been 2 or 3 hours longer and included many more of this prolific songwriter's moving lyrics. Anyone purchasing this movie, regardless of whether a Hank Williams fan or not will not be disappointed. It's a keeper!
