Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven album for sale Product Description
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven album for sale by Donovan was released Jan 16, 2001 on the Collectables label. This is a peculiar two-fer CD marrying MELLOW YELLOW (a US-only mishmash of singles, outtakes, and old album tracks) with WEAR YOUR LOVE LIKE HEAVEN, originally the first half of an entirely different double-LP called A GIFT FROM A FLOWER TO A GARDEN. (Confused yet?) Taken together like this, these two albums are Donovan at his hippie-era peak, blending fanciful psychedelia like the two title tracks--two of his finest singles ever--and the downright giddy "Oh Gosh" with earthier material like "House of Jansch" (a tribute to the Pentangle's Bert Jansch, a longtime friend), the witty Swinging London tribute "Sunny South Kensington," and the downright bleak "Writer in the Sun." Donovan's albums are notoriously spotty, but these two are his most consistently entertaining, with very few weak songs and some excellent psych-pop arrangements by a pre-Led Zeppelin John Paul Jones. Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven CD music contains a single disc with 20 songs. ...See Full Description

| Donovan does it.. .2 great 60's LP's on one disc... Loaded with some of his best songs. . Get past the hits and enjoy some truly great songs like "Museum" & "Sunny South Kensinton".... By Rick (Santa Clarita, California) |
| Just a quick correction to the "notes" These are two great albums from 1967, with more of a jazzy feel than previous releases. The Mellow Yellow album was recorded as an album and is not "a mishmash of singles, outtakes, and old album tracks". By a reviewer (Sydney, Australia) |

Neil Young On the Beach CD (1974)
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven buy CD music After working his way through loss and chaos on the brilliant TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT (recorded in 1973, but not released until 1975), Neil Young deftly exorcised any lingering demons with 1974's ON THE BEACH. The album opens with the saunter of the aptly titled "Walk On," followed by the utterly gorgeous, Wurlitzer-tinged "See the Sky about to Rain."
The set also features a trio of scathing songs--"Revolution Blues," "Vampire Blues," and "Ambulance Blues"--that address issues important to Young, both social and personal. It is good to hear Young back with such bite and vitriol, especially after the broken desperation of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT. But while ON THE BEACH is edgy and deeply felt, it also manages to sound liberating and relaxed, with glimmers of hope and humor peeking through the spare, evocative arrangements. Inexplicably unreleased on CD until 2003, ON THE BEACH is both unflinching and resilient, and easily stands as one of Young's finest albums.

Jethro Tull Stand Up CD (1969)
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven CD music Principally recorded at Morgan Studios, London, England. Includes liner notes by Ian Anderson.
People often forget that Tull started out as a forward-looking blues-rock unit not dissimilar to contemporaries like Cream and Led Zeppelin. While the blues influence is heard most clearly on the debut THIS WAS, its successor STAND UP still shows some of those traces. Tracks like "A New Day Yesterday" and "Nothing Is Easy" are the prime examples of this hard-hitting, bluesy riff-rock approach. Elsewhere, though, the boys begin to show some of the folk, jazz, and classical influences that would soon make them a leading exponent of progressive rock.
"Bouree" is a flute-led instrumental track that combines Ian Anderson's improvisations with melodic bass work that's alternately jazzy and classical-influenced. The melancholy folk-rock feel of "Look Into the Sun" makes for an emotionally affecting, introspective ballad. The light-hearted "Fat Man" incorporates folk influences with an Eastern-sounding balalaika melody. STAND UP is a portrait of a band in transition, on its way to bigger things, but it's still eminently enjoyable.
Digitally remastered reissue of their second release; includes four bonus tracks.
Producers: Terry Ellis, Ian Anderson.
Jethro Tull: Ian Anderson (vocals, guitar, balalaika, mandolin, flute, mouth organ, Hammond B-3 organ); Martin "Lancelot" Barre (electric guitar, flute); Glen Cornick (bass); Clive Bunker (drums, percussion).
Additional personnel: David Palmer (arranger, conductor).

Jethro Tull Songs from the Wood CD (1977)
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven songs In terms of rustic, tights-wearing, elf-loving, flute-heavy, British/Celtic folk-tinged '70s prog-rock, SONGS FROM THE WOOD is the most Tull of all Jethro Tull albums. By 1977 the band had ventured far enough from its heavy blues-rock beginnings to create a completely unique, idiosyncratic sound, filled with European folk mythology, rural imagery and an endearing combination of art-rock and British folk-rock. Elaborate synthesizer fanfares mix with delicate acoustic guitar tapestries, complex arrangements and odd time signatures. SONGS FROM THE WOOD strikes the perfect balance between the proggie ambition of THICK AS A BRICK, the storytelling style of AQUALUNG and the courtly, medieval air of MINSTREL IN THE GALLERY.
Digitally remastred reissue of 1977 album includes two bonus tracks 'Beltane' (taken from the album 20 Years of Jethro Tull - track done at end of sessions) & 'Velvet Green' (live) (taken from 20 years of Jethro Tull - BBC In Concert Recording 1977). 11 tracks & liner notes written by Ian Anderson. This newly remastered 2003 deluxe edition contains bonus tracks.
Originally released on RCA Victor (4058). Includes liner notes by Jeff Tamarkin and Bill Thompson.
CROWN OF CREATION is a rich and varied collection showing off the different talents of the main songwriters. Among the many memorable moments are Grace Slick's beautiful vocal on "Lather," the band's sensitive cover version of David Crosby's "Triad," and Jorma Kaukonen's stunning wah-wah solo on "If You Feel." Add to this the intense lyrics (such as the drug-themed "Greasy Heart"), Marty Balin and Paul Kantner's consistently strong vocals throughout, and Jack Casady's remarkable dexterity on bass. This is most certainly the Airplane's REVOLVER.
The bonus tracks Ribumbabap Rubadubaoumoum; Would You Like a Snack; Share a Little Joke (single version), and the unreleased and suitably bizarre The Saga of Sydney Spacepig join the rest of this 1968 album.

Sunshine Superman CD (1966)
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven CD music The big psychedelic chart topper for folk guru Donovan, this includes the title track and "Season of Witch."
Paced by the title track, one of Donovan's best singles, 1966's Sunshine Superman heralded the coming psychedelic age with a new world/old world bent: several ambitious psychedelic productions and a raft of wistful folk songs. Producer Mickie Most fashioned a new sound for the Scottish folksinger, a sparse, swinging, bass-heavy style perfectly complementing Donovan's enigmatic lyrics and delightfully skewed, beatnik delivery. The two side-openers, "Sunshine Superman" and "Season of the Witch," are easily the highlights of the album; the first is the quintessential bright summer sing-along, the second a chugging eve-of-destruction tale. The rest of Sunshine Superman is filled with lengthy, abstract, repetitive folk jams, perfect for lazy summer afternoons, but more problematic when close attention is paid. Accompanied by acoustic guitar and a chamber quartet, the second track, "Legend of a Girl Child Linda," plods on for nearly seven minutes, Donovan's hippie-dippie delivery rendering "lace" into "layyyzzz." After that notable low point, he performs much better, tingling a few spines with his enunciation on the ancient-sounding folksongs "Guinevere," "Three King Fishers," and "Ferris Wheel." Elsewhere, he salutes the Jefferson Airplane on "The Fat Angel" and fellow British folkie Bert Jansch on "Bert's Blues." Donovan's songs are quite solid, but Mickie Most's insistence on extroverted productions (it would grow even more pronounced with time) resulted in a collection of songs that sound good on their own but aren't very comfortable in context. ~ John Bush
2005 Digitally remastered re-issue features seven bonus tracks 'Breezes Of Patchulie', 'Museum' (First Version), 'Superlungs' (First Version), 'The Land Of Doesn't Have To', 'Sunshine', 'Good Trip' (Demo), 'House Of Jansch' (Demo). Sunshine Superman marked the coming of psychedelia and utilised the production skills of already established producer, Mickie Most, whose bass heavy style complements Donovan's enigmatic lyrics and their beatnik delivery brilliantly. The Remastered import edition includes six bonus tracks.

Open Road CD (1970)
Mellow Yellow/Wear Your Love Like Heaven buy CD music Digitally remastered 2000 reissue of the singer/songwriter's 1970 album. Includes the hit, 'Riki Tiki Tavi'. Digipak.
Although it was a disappointing seller and signaled the start of Donovan's commercial decline, Open Road could have been a new beginning for the singer. Stripping down to a Celtic rock format that managed to be hard and direct, yet still folkish, Donovan turned out a series of excellent songs, notably the minor hit "Riki Tiki Tavi," that seemed to show him moving toward a roots-oriented sound of considerable appeal. Unfortunately, he was derailed by record company hassles and perhaps his own burnout, and Open Road turned out to be a sidestep rather than a step forward. ~ William Ruhlmann
Personnel: Donovan (vocals, guitar, harp, harmonica); Mike Thomson (vocals, guitar); Mike O'Neil (vocals, piano, keyboards); John Candy Carr (vocals, drums); Candy John Carr (percussion).
