Originally released on Columbia (8110) & Columbia (8277).
The combination of these Lionel Hampton albums -- Golden Vibes and Silver Vibes -- provide pleasant interpretations of pop standards. The familiar melodies of "Day by Day," "My Funny Valentine," and "What's New?" hold up exceptionally well. The original LPs were released on Columbia in 1958 and 1960, and had been out of print until Collectables reissued them in 2001. ~ Al Campbell

5 stars This is a must have for Jazz fans
I had these two albums when I was a teenager and when cds became available, I searched every where to find them on cd. CDUniverse was my godsend. If you like Lionel Hampton at all these will knock you out of your chair. Golden Vibes and Silver Vibs together on on CD. The selections chosen are perfect for entertaining and just listening to alone. The rich sound of the Golden Vibes and the light melodic sounds of the Silver: An experiece to have and to pass on the new generations.
