Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan.
During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago. Produced by TESE.
The Collector's Edition laserdisc (Cat. #LV-25895) includes the director's cut of the film, which is actually the 6-minute longer version released outside the U.S. in 1986. Also included are a running film commentary, by the producers and director Russell Mulcahy, and a CAV supplement containing press releases, background profiles, text and pictures from lost scenes, trailers, and more.
Although "Highlander" made only $5 million at the U.S. box office, the film grossed almost $70 million overseas. It went on to spawn two sequels, an animated children's television series, a live-action television series on the USA cable network, a series of books, a "Highlander" Web site, a CD-ROM game and a huge merchandising catalogue. Highlander Quotes/Excerpts: "There can be only one!" -- Connor MacLeod (CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT). Highlander Reviews: "...Entertaining....The picture is beautifully photographed....Outstanding special effects..."
-- Brit., Variety "...[This] entertaining fantasy flits between centuries of film-making styles with abandon..."

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER FROM THE 80'S KUDOS TO CHRISTOPHER LAMBERT, SEAN CONNERY AND CLANCY BROWN WHO WERE BRILLIANT IN THIS MOVIE. JUST GREAT ACTING BY A GREAT CAST. THIS MOVIE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE IN 1986 AND WAS A CULT HIT JUGGERNAUT JUST LIKE "EQUILBRIUM" DID IN 2002. IN MY OPINION "HIGHLANDER" WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST SCI- FI/FANTASY MOVIES EVER MADE. IT SIMPLY BELONGS IN EVERY MOVIE COLLECTION EVERYWHERE. "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE"! Submitted by MICHAELCBAREFOOT (FOUR OAKS, N.C.,U.S.A.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. There can be only one!!!! One of my favorite movies of all time. There are immortals among us. Very original. The cinematography, the story and the soundtrack were amazing. Unfortunately this movie set the bar so high, the sequels failed miserably to live up...proving once again that 'there can be only one!'

There can only be one This is a crazy movie about immortals that fight with sword & the only way to kill them is to cut off their head, then they take in the others power. Someone was smoking some good stuff making this movie. Submitted by Lee (Alabama) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

$14.85 Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam epic, loosely based on the novel HEART OF DARKNESS by Joseph Conrad, tells the story of Captain Willard (Martin Sheen), a special agent sent into Cambodia to assassinate an errant American colonel (Marlon Brando). Willard is assigned to a navy patrol boat operated by Chief (Albert Hall) and three hapless soldiers (Frederic Forrest, Sam Bottoms, and Larry Fishburne). They are escorted on part of their journey by an air cavalry unit led by Lt. Colonel Kilgore (Robert Duvall), a gung-ho commander with a love of Wagner, surfing, and napalm. After witnessing a surreal USO show featuring Playboy playmates, and an anarchic battle with the Viet Cong at a bridge, Willard reaches Colonel Kurtz's compound. A crazed photojournalist and Kurtz groupie (Dennis Hopper) welcomes the crew, and Willard begins to question his orders to "terminate the colonel's command." The grueling production and Coppola's insistence on authenticity led to vast budget overruns and physical and emotional breakdowns. Considered to be one of the best war movies of all time, APOCALYPSE NOW features skilled performances and beautifully chaotic visuals that make it a powerful, unforgettable work.
This collection presents both the 1979 original and the 2001 restored and updated version, with 49 minutes of never-before-seen footage, a Technicolor enhancement, and a six-channel soundtrack.

$23.29 Based on the eponymous underground magazine and original art and stories by Richard Corben, Angus McKie, Dan O'Bannon, Thomas Warkentin and Berni Wrightson, this groundbreaking cult classic served as a crossover introduction for many Americans to the aesthetic conventions associated with Japanese anime. This unique collection of six animated stories are all linked by sequences featuring a fiendish green meteorite that claims to be the cause of evil throughout the world. A combination of science-fiction, fantasy, horror, comedy, and sex against a pulse pounding heavy metal soundtrack with songs by Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Nazareth and other 80's rock giants. $6.55 WAR-GODS OF THE DEEP: An unusual science fiction adventure set not in the future, but in the past. It is 1903 and just off the Cornish coast lives an undersea kingdom of humanlike creatures who never age. The ruler of this strange society sees a woman on land who looks like the reincarnation of the ruler's deceased wife. This sets off a chain of events that eventually bring the human world into battle against this underwater community of the past. Memorable for its creative sets and creepy gill man warriors, this drive-in classic is based on a line from an Edgar Allen Poe work and is sprinkled with references to Poe throughout. Tab Hunter, wearing gigantic scuba gear similar to a robot costume, and Vincent Price star.
AT THE EARTH'S CORE: Peter Cushing (THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK) stars as Dr. Abner Perry, a Victorian scientist who has invented an enormous boring machine. Accompanied by his financial backer David Innes (Doug McClure, MAVERICK), he undertakes an experiment that will take him deep into the Earth's crust. Unfortunately he doesn't know the strength of his own creation, and the machine carries them all the way to the enormous cavern at the center of the Earth. There, the scientists discover an incredible world populated by a prehistoric human race. The humans are ruled over by despotic, telepathic bird-monsters who use them for food and labor. The visitors decide to attempt to free the humans, while the charms of one slave in particular (Caroline Munro, THE BLACK CAT) do not go unremarked.
