You Had It Coming album for sale Product Description
You Had It Coming album for sale by Jeff Beck was released Feb 06, 2001 on the Epic label. As with WHO ELSE, Jeff Beck's previous album, YOU HAD IT COMING finds the venerable axeman coaxing wildly imaginative squalls of noise over a rhythm section constructed from samples and tape loops, mostly with a techno beat (although the concluding "Suspension" is so laid back it's practically a ballad). There's a nod to his blues roots with a nicely fractured version of Muddy Waters' "Rollin' and Tumblin'," but most of the rest of the songs find him performing in a vaguely modal framework. ...See Full Description

| So So Album !!! I like the first 5 songs, but the rest is something that could be left out and replace with the tempo like the first 5 songs. By draw12 (Fort Worth , Tx.) |
| I'm Sure Glad I Had This Coming! With Jeff Beck's new album, You Had It Coming, Jeff continues to show he is the god of guitar. And just two years after his grammy-nominated album, Who Else! When you pop You Had It Coming into your cd player, get ready for a wild ride. 'Earthquake,' the first song, gets you pumped and ready for the rest of the cd. 'Roy's Toy', 'Dirty Mind', and 'Rollin and Tumblin' also sent my pants to the laundry. 'Nadia', however, is the climax of the cd. 'Nadia' is one of the best songs I've ever heard Jeff do. I believe 'Nadia' is right up there with 'Cause We've Ended as Lovers' and 'Where Were You.' When I first heard 'Nadia', I was stunned. I am totally impressed. Here's my favorite songs from 1-10 on this cd (1 being my favorite, 10 my least favorite): 1. Nadia 2. Suspension 3. Earthquake 4. Dirty Mind 5. Left Hook 6. Rollin' and Tumblin' 7. Roy's Toy 8. Loose Cannon 9. Rosebud 10. Blackbird Over all, I am totally impressed and Jeff just keeps getting better and better. This album is right up there with 'Blow by Blow' and 'Wired.' This is definately one of Jeff Beck's best albums. By a reviewer (Hartford, CT) |
| Some of Jeff Beck's best work! With You Had It Coming, Jeff Beck knocks Eric Clapton and Jimmy page on their butts. As soon as I got this CD, I tore the plastic off, opened it up and put it in my CD player. I turned the volume up and listened to the whole thing-wow! This album is definatly up there with Blow by Blow and Wired. Need a bit of real rock guitar? Go to Earthquake. Are you a motor head? I am too, and I love the song Roy's Toy. Dirty Mind is an excellent song, the way he uses the wah-pedal is very cool. Need some blues, but with a Jeff Beck twist? Rollin' and Tumblin' is the song for you. Perhaps the best song on this album, however, is Nadia. Jeff Beck does a stunning take of Nitin Shawney's song, and it is the standout track of the album. Very impressive! There's something on this CD for everyone. From the haunting melodies and phrasings of Loose Cannon, to the lyrical resolution of Suspension. You Had It Coming-one of Jeff's best. | Beck Is Back! There is only one Beck - Jeff Beck - and he is back just two years after the Grammy Nominated 'Who Else'. Jeff continues to innovate and explore new frontiers with a techno slant, while maintaining his legendary style and grace. 'You Had It Coming' is an exciting, fresh and absolutely wild collection of mostly instrumental tracks that showcase both sides of Jeff - heavy riffs and sweet ballads fit together on this incredible record. Buy an extra copy for a friend. By a reviewer (Westhampton, NY) |
