Classic Film I was so pleased to have obtained this film, as it wouldn't have been Christmas without it. It is full of the spirit of Christmas and is such a suitable family film. It is so nice to find a film where you can be sure the whole family will enjoy it no matter what the age, from 8 to 80. It can also be enjoyed any time of the year as the acting is brilliant.

One of best 5 Christmas movies ever Anyone reading this review, knows that this film's fame has grown in the past two decades though it has been somewhat eclipsed by "It's A Wonderful Life". The score is superb (for some reason beyond me never released as a soundtrack), the story is charming, the actors are excellent, and although the directing is at times a little wooden, Koster does a more than credible job of keeping the pace up. What is probably the most remarkable thing about this film is the wonderful screenplay by Sherwood et. al. Truly an adult Christmas film. This reviewer has three published books of adult Christmas fiction which nevertheless fits under the PG to PG-13 umbrella. Would that movies like this one could be made from my books! Bishop's Wife DVD
$10.05 One of John Ford's most cherished projects, THE QUIET MAN took years to finance but became one of his greatest box-office successes and an enduringly beloved classic. John Wayne stars as Sean Thornton, a retired American boxing champion trying to put tragedy behind him by returning to Innisfree, the bucolic Irish village of his birth. He purchases his birthplace from its current owner, enraging the wealthy and bellicose Red Will Danaher (Victor McLaglen), who had designs on the property. On arriving at his cottage, Thornton finds it being swept out by Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara), a redheaded vision from whom he steals a not completely unwelcome kiss. After engaging in a subterfuge involving a horse race, some of the locals manage to get the disgruntled Red Will to allow his sister to be courted by the American. But the courtship ritual of the village is only the first of many local practices that the bewildered Thornton must endure if he is to have Mary Kate. Wayne gives a surprisingly nuanced performance as the fish out of water, and he is ...

$9.69 Joseph L. Mankiewicz's bittersweet, sparkling romance between a young widow and a sea captain's ghost weaves a magical tale of immortal love. Determined to live her life the way she wants, newly widowed Lucy Muir (Gene Tierney) declines her straitlaced in-laws' demand that she live with them and moves with her daughter (a young Natalie Wood) to the seaside into a cottage haunted by the handsome, blustering Captain Gregg (Rex Harrison). A deal is struck between the two in the wee hours of the morning allowing Lucy to stay in the house and the captain to materialize only in the master bedroom. As they gradually get to know each other better, Lucy's spunk and stubbornness gains first the captain's grudging respect, then his heart. But when another man woos Lucy, both must face that her future lies with the living, not in the spirit world.
A timeless romantic favorite, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR subtly traces the complex development of friendship ...
