Burt Lancaster, Lee Remick, Jim Hutton, Donald Pleasence, Pamela Tiffin, Brian Keith - Dir:John Sturges The Temperance League and Native Americans battle over the control of a cavalry-guarded shipment of whiskey en route to thristing Denver miners in this Western satire. When Denver's liquor supply runs dangerously low, an emergency shipment of whiskey is promptly rushed to the boomtown before the winter of 1867 sets in. Protecting the precious cargo from marauding Indians, greedy miners, and irate temperance activists is the responsibility of the beleaguered U.S. Cavalry. THE HALLELUJAH TRAIL is a slapstick comedy starring Burt Lancaster as cavalry officer Col. Thadeus Gearhart, set just before the winter of 1867, when the boomtown of Denver realizes it's almost run out of whiskey. The perenially drunken Oracle Jones (Donald Pleasence) hatches a plan to bring a wagon train of whiskey to Denver before winter sets in. Newspaper editor Hobbs wires temperance leader Cora Massingale (Lee Remick) about the shipment, and a group of Sioux Indians also takes an interest in the booze. Col. Gearheart leads a company assigned to protect the temperance contingent, which intends to head off the train, and Capt. Slater (Jim Hutton) leads another, assigned to protect the train. A Denver citizens group, led by Clayton Howell (Dub Taylor), is also headed for the train, not to mention the Sioux. When the Teamsters suddenly stage a sit-down strike, the train is left wide open to attack. This odd little film, based on the novel by Bill Gulick, features a star-studded cast and a score by the great Elmer Bernstein. Theatrical release: June 23, 1965.
Shooting locations: New Mexico and California.

$9.89 John Sturges's adaptation of Alistair MacLean's novel stars Rock Hudson as submarine commander James Ferraday. When a weather-monitoring station near the North Pole is nearly destroyed by fire, he's ostensibly sent to find out what went wrong. But since he's been ordered to bring along Capt. Leslie Anders (Jim Brown) and a platoon of Marines, British agent David Jones (Patrick McGoohan), and Russian defector Boris Vaslov (Ernest Borgnine), he realizes he's being kept in the dark about the true nature of the mission. Eventually it becomes clear that the USS Tigerfish is in a race with a Russian sub to recover reconaissance film crucial to national defense that was being carried aboard a spacecraft that crashed near the polar ice cap. When the sub is sabotaged--causing it to sink perilously close to a depth that would lead to an explosion--it becomes clear that a double agent is on board, but Ferraday doesn't have enough evidence to arrest anyone. Although the film is often remembered as the one chosen for ad nauseam viewing by Howard Hughes, it's a well-made combination of action and suspense, boasting a fine score by Michel Legrand.
The U.S. nuclear sub Tigerfish churns toward the North Pole. Its mission: rescue the imperiled members of weather outpost Ice Station Zebra. On board are Cmdr. Ferraday and his crew, several unexpected arrivals with secret orders?and enough ...
