Donal Logue, David Aaron Baker, James 'Kimo' Wills, John Hines, Greer Goodman, Ayelet Kaznelson - Dir:Jenniphr Goodman. Steve" is the prototypical cool guy, a Steve McQueen, a man who has the ability to attract women effortlessly. It's the code by which Dex, an oversized kindergarten teacher with a very effective way with women, lives. Dex is self-indulgence personified, until he meets someone who doesn't respond to his technique and uncovers a person who still may be able to grow up. Dex (Donal Logue) is a loveable kindergarten teacher who has extraordinary success with women, and a sexual appetite to match. Women go crazy for him, and men admire his finely-tuned romantic philosophy. The only woman who is not wooed by his charms is Syd (Greer Goodman), an old college friend. THE TAO OF STEVE is a light and spunky romantic comedy directed by Jenniphr Goodman. The film, and Logue's role in it, got the Outstanding Performance Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2000.
Dex (Donal Logue), an overweight slacker living in Santa Fe, excels at charming women. The reason behind his success is apparently "the Tao of Steve," a pseudo-philosophy, largely about dating women, developed by Dex and his drinking buddies. While this lazy lifestyle with no commitment seems to work, Dex gradually begins to realize there's something more meaningful missing from his life. When he meets Syd (Greer Goodman), a beautiful set designer, Dex discovers the Tao of Steve isn't a foolproof way of thinking, and must get in touch with his real emotions to get the girl of his dreams.
Jenniphr Goodman's directorial debut is a highly enjoyable romantic comedy. Set along the gorgeous desert landscapes of New Mexico, Goodman's film manages to echo its surroundings with its easy-going pace and attitude. In his first leading role, Logue is immediately likeable, portraying Dex as a surprisingly complex man with simple ideals. With its insightful look at the ups and downs of finding love, THE TAO OF STEVE is as endearing as its half-baked philosophy. Theatrical Release: August 4, 2000 (LA/NY)
THE TAO OF STEVE was shot on location in New Mexico.
For THE TAO OF STEVE movie posters, Sony Picture Classics used the body of Mike Schank from the AMERICAN MOVIE poster and substituted actor Donal Logue's head. Though some jewelry was removed and a little girth was added, Sony confirmed that the body in the poster belongs to Mike Schank.
Donal Logue gained over 25 pounds to play the role of Dex.

-- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

Tao Of Steve DVD
$23.45 Co-helmed by WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, FINDING NEMO follows Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), an overprotective clown fish father, as he desperately searches the farthest reaches of the sea for his missing son Nemo. Marlin's journey leads him beyond the Great Barrier Reef into deeper and darker waters, where he meets Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful yet optimistic blue tang, and a number of not-so-friendly--and often very hungry--aquatic creatures. Meanwhile, little Nemo finds himself in a dentist's fish tank in Syndey, Australia, along with other underwater captives, including Gill (Willem Dafoe), the group's scarred Moorish idol leader. As Nemo works with his new friends on a plan to escape their tank, Marlin and Dory swim closer, but they'll need more than just fins to get into the dentist's office.
This fifth computer-animated outing by Pixar continues the company's remarkable winning streak that began with TOY STORY. Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features a story with heart--this time, a father-and-son tale--and thoroughly charming leads--in this case, Marlin, Nemo, and Dory. And, of course, there's ...
| | King Diamond Puppet Master CD (2003) Bonus DVD
Tao Of Steve movie DVD
$10.79 This release includes a bonus DVD featuring an interview with King Diamond.
Kim Bendix Petersen, better known as King Diamond, has built an empire out of wailing spirits, singing spiders, and voodoo priestesses. His 11th full-length ghost story, The Puppet Master, centers around an unfortunate man, his girlfriend, and a husband and wife team of puppet masters as they abuse and torture their subjects somewhere in Budapest. Diamond wisely forgoes his usual cheeseball spoken-word intro and simply launches into "Midnight," a melodic dirge that ranks high amongst his huge -- and often inconsistent -- body of work. The brutal "Emerencia" features stellar guitar work from Andy LaRocque -- the thread that binds each and every King Diamond album -- and "The Ritual" aptly deals with the popular heavy metal theme of souls burning in Hell -- lyrical prowess has never been his forte. The remainder of the record is serviceable goth-metal filled with oaths and omens, blood and sacrifice, and one ill-conceived Christmas song. King Diamond has reached a stage in his career where evil has begun ...

Tao Of Steve review
$28.65 A sequel to YOJIMBO, SANJURO features Toshirô Mifune reprising his role as the title character, an uncouth wanderer with a quick sword. While napping in a deserted shrine, the cynical and unkempt warrior is awakened by a meeting of nine young samurai who seek to weed out corruption within their city. While the youths take their situation at face value, the sleepy Sanjuro interjects with wise insight, pointing out that the real corruption may be hidden. The temple is suddenly surrounded by men seeking to kill the nine samurai, but Sanjuro cleverly hides them and fiercely deters the entire band of attackers, led by Muroto (Tatsuya Nakadai). Now indebted to Sanjuro, the novice warriors proceed to follow the unlikely hero around like lost puppies in their attempts to defeat the corrupt local officials.
Akira Kurosawa's YOJIMBO was such a success that the director decided to make another film in the same comedic-adventure vein. Once again Mifune is in ...
