In the winter of 1995, Bruce Springsteen reassembled the E Street Band with just three days notice to record a few new songs to add to the release of his "Greatest Hits" album. "Blood Brothers" is a chronicle of the reunion that both sheds light on the dynamics that Springsteen and the E Street Band shared and illuminates the creative process in the recording and mixing of music in the 1990's. "This superlative documentary...offers a glimpse of Springsteen that fans rarely see."--TV Guide. Includes music from the songs "Blood Brothers," "High Hopes," "This Hard Land," "Back in Your Arms Again," and "Without You," plus the music videos for "Murder Inc." and "Secret Garden." This documentary highlights the reunion of Bruce Springsteen with his E Street Band as they join forces to record several new tracks for Springsteen's GREATEST HITS album. Featured songs include longtime bootleg favorite "This Hard Land" and the brand-new songs "Secret Garden" and "Blood Brothers," as well as other previously unreleased tracks. The show aired originally on the Disney Channel. The documentary provides a thrilling behind-the-scenes look at Springsteen's creative process, which is famous for its attention to detail. Springsteen also constantly flips around music and lyrics among different songs until he nails it perfectly. The closeness of the band is evident at the outset in its ability to gel with Springsteen right off the bat even though they hadn't played together regularly since the late 1980s. The brief reunion included a show at Sony Studios. The band also teamed up to make a live video for "Murder Incorporated," directed by Jonathan Demme. The invite-only five-hour shoot took place at Tramp's in New York City and was attended by Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Dave Marsh, and other Springsteen fans. The song was played seven different times, from several camera angles. In between versions, while Demme's crew rearranged the cameras, Springsteen and the band blasted through some old chestnuts, including "Cadillac Ranch," "Ramrod," and "Little Latin Lupe Lu."
The band would later reunite in 1999 for a world tour that lasted through the summer of 2000 and would be captured for an HBO special and DVD/CD release.
The VHS version included a limited-edition compact disc when it was first released. $11.19 This two-disc set features all of Bruce Springsteen's official music videos as well as alternate versions, live television appearances, concert versions, and never-before-shown videos. When Springsteen became part of the music-video surge of the mid-1980s, he did so with a vengeance, hiring Brian De Palma and John Sayles to direct him in such MTV staples as "Dancing in the Dark" (featuring an early appearance by Courteney Cox), "I'm on Fire," and "Glory Days," with the latter two featuring Springsteen doing some genuine acting. For his videos from ...

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Blood Brothers review
$11.89 This two-CD compilation, assembled from the Walker Brothers' three albums and various singles released by Philips between 1965 and 1967, gives a good overview of their U.K. history without limiting itself to their hits. The sound quality is good if not exceptional -- one gets the sense that another round of remastering would be in order (and while we're talking about sound, wouldn't one like to see a Mobile Fidelity reissue on the Walker Brothers or, for that matter, Scott Walker's best solo stuff?). And the track order isn't chronological -- their two best-known songs, which were not their first two U.K. singles -- occupy the opening two slots on disc one. So this set is lacking in some attributes ...

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Blood Brothers DVD
$16.39 Christmas and the blues might seem at first like a strange combination, given that the music of the holiday season is usually joyful, hopeful, and bright, but no other time of the year is so good at showing you what you don't have, and what you can't get, and if you have the blues at Christmas, well, it's going to be a pretty heavy dose. This generous two-disc set from Document Records features 52 tracks of vintage African-American Christmas-themed blues and gospel pieces (with a couple of street sermons thrown in) recorded between 1925 and 1955, ranging from down-and-out laments and jailhouse moans to surprising (and occasionally risqué) requests for what Santa can bring down the chimney. Highlights on the first disc include ...
