Live In Holland album
$18.74 Whereas Alice Cooper's first two studio albums, 1969's PRETTIES FOR YOU and 1970's EASY ACTION, tended more towards the trippy excesses of the hippie era, their next one, 1971's LOVE IT TO DEATH introduced the world to the heavy sound that Cooper would soon be taking to the top. With the invaluable production assistance of future Pink Floyd/Lou Reed cohort ...
| | Joe Walsh Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get CD (1973) Gold
Live In Holland CD music
$18.74 "Rocky Mountain Way," the tune that opens Joe Walsh's sophomore release (and remains one of his best-known songs), is a textbook example of Walsh's strengths. The song is driven by a slinky hard rock groove that boasts crunchy, distorted guitars, barrelhouse piano, wiry solos, and a catchy, singalong chorus--proving Walsh's penchant for mixing rock elements and radio-ready accessibility with a sense of wit and fun. The rest of SMOKER YOU DRINK, PLAYER YOU GET follows suit, with the mid-tempo rock ballad "Bookends," ...

| | The Very Best Of Enya CDs (2009) With DVD
Live In Holland songs
$21.00 Comprised of 18 tracks culled from the singer/composer's first three decades, The Very Best of Enya was pieced together by the artist herself, along with longtime collaborators Nicky and Roma Ryan. Luckily, the trio seems enamored by most of the same songs that the general public is, resulting in one of those rare "greatest-hits" collections that goes deep without depriving the listener of the essentials. With tunes like "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue," and "Book of Days" in the pot and out of the way, it's easier to appreciate hidden gems like "Cursum Perficio," "Boadicea," "Trains and Winter Rains," and "Anywhere Is." Also notable is the inclusion of "May It Be" and a previously unreleased version of "Aníron (I Desire)," both of which originally appeared on the soundtrack for the first chapter of Peter Jackson's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. ~ James Christopher Monger

Live In Holland music CDs
$9.79 Texas is a good name for this band, whose sound is open, brooding and just a bit on the twangy side; if you can imagine a sound somewhere between the dour, minimalist bluesiness of Cowboy Junkies and the yearning, gospel-tinged bombast of early U2, you'll have a good idea what to expect. Singer Sharleen Spiteri has the perfect ...

| | Genius: The Best Of Warren Zevon CD (2002)
Live In Holland album
$15.29 To paraphrase the old saw, if Warren Zevon did not exist it would have been necessary to invent him. At a time when his L.A. singer-songwriter peers were bleeding all over their shirtsleeves with mawkish, sensitive balladry, Zevon turned the 1970s troubadour approach on its ear with a twisted lyrical sensibility that embraced danger, ribaldry, and general mayhem. A more concise summary than the two-disc collection I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD, GENIUS is an excellent thumbnail sketch of Zevon's iconoclastic work.
The early years are well represented by the oddly poignant junkie's lament "Carmelita," the horror-of-war ghost story "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner," and of course, such misanthropic staples as "Excitable Boy" and "Werewolves of London." GENIUS stands to show, however, that the '70s weren't the end of Zevon's story. Zevon is backed by R.E.M. on the trenchant boxing tale "Boom Boom ...
