Dennis Quaid, Louis Gossett Jr., Brion James, Richard Marcus, Carolyn McCormick, Bumper Robinson - Dir:Wolfgang Petersen When wo enemy creatures from different worlds crash-land on the same barren planet, they are forced to become friends in order to survive. During a bloody battle, two warring ships crash on a barren planet, with only one survivor from each ship. At first, the human pilot and the lizardlike Drac continue to fight, but the planet's harsh climate and the need to survive force them to ally. Over time, they put old hostilities aside and form a friendship. When the parthenogenetic Drac becomes pregnant, the two draw closer, overcoming their external differences to appreciate each other for who--not what--they are. The film is a thinly masked treatise on race relations, handled well by its two lead actors, Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett, Jr. This futuristic sci-fi adventure film, directed by Wolfgang Petersen, features Gossett in an intricate full-body costume for his portrayal of the alien Drac.
Filmed at Bavaria Studios in Munich, Germany, and on the Canary Islands.
The aliens were created and designed by Chris Walas, Inc.

Enemy Mine Movie Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Enemy Mine: This is a space version of the WWII movie, 'Hell in the Pacific' (1968), with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. I believe 'Enemy Mine' (1985) will gain in popularity as time passes. It is not a 'block buster', but a nicely crafted little cameo, which is what makes it more enjoyable and valuable. It is a nice character study with many social overtones applicable anywhere, any time; a dash of action; good suspense; the obligatory villians; very good makeup-artistry; stylized space scenes; and a proper ending that fits the story line nicely. If you are looking for a "shoot'em up" with space babes, this is not for you. Submitted by donegalgeorge (Bel Air, MD, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

VHS purchase We recieved a vhs of "Enemy Mine", with Dennis Quaid. We recieved our order speedely but the tape was not a good copy. When we watch the movie all the way through, the last 1/4 of the movie was poor quality and fuzzy. How can we fix this matter. May we get a new one? This was a gift to my husband for his birthday since this is his favorite movie and we were both disappointed. Please respond, thank you, Kelly Bushnell Submitted by a reviewer (Aumsville, Or, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.

| | Interview With The Vampire DVD (1994) Special Edition; DTS Sound
Enemy Mine review
$14.45 Horror author Anne Rice penned the screenplay for this full-blooded adaptation of her novel, which chronicles the life of 18th-century nobleman Louis (Brad Pitt) after he is bitten by powerful, charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). Though enthralled with the undead lifestyle at first, Louis is unable to warm up to killing humans and grows despondent. To comfort Louis, Lestat creates another vampire (Kirsten Dunst in a star-making peformance), a young girl who from then on cannot age. Antonio Banderas appears as Armand, a 400-year-old vampire, and Christian Slater plays the radio producer who interviews the remorseful Louis.
Director Neil Jordan captures the lush decadence and erotic fervor of the novel, infusing the film with rich, dusky tones. The big budget is well used to bring each period and place to sharply detailed life, and there ...
| | Day The Earth Stood Still DVD (1951)
Enemy Mine DVD
$10.29 Beginning with a documentary style that immediately hooks the viewer, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, based on the Harry Bates short story "Farewell to the Master," becomes as much a human interest story as it does a sci-fi B-movie classic. The film soberly depicts the arrival of an alien dignitary, Klaatu (Michael Rennie), who has come to earth with his deadly robot, Gort (Lock Martin), to deliver the message that earthlings must stop warring among themselves--or else. After being shot at by ignorant, panicky military guards, Klaatu is brought to a Washington, D.C., hospital, where he begs a sympathetic but frank Major White (Robert Osterloh) to gather all the world's leaders so he can tell them more specifically what he has come 250 million miles to warn them about. Losing patience, Klaatu slips into the human world, adapting a false identity and living at a boarding house where he meets a smart woman with a conscience, Helen Benson (Patricia Neal), and her inquisitive son, Bobby (Billy Gray). Both mother and son soon find themselves embroiled in the complex mystery of Klaatu, his message, and the government's ...
