Jazz Channel Presents Earl Klugh - Bet On Jazz Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews There must be a better Earl Klugh DVD out there Pretty average performance, really at the POP end of Klugh's musical spectrum. Don't buy this if you're expecting inspired interplay and soaring solos, this is definitely sold-out Cabaret that appeals to the middle-of-the-roaders. This is an outstanding performance by Earl Klugh & band Great songs. Excellent musicianship. Smooth jazz performed to perfection. This has now become one of my favorite concert DVDs. I mean up there with "An Evening with Fourplay", "Sade Lovers Live", & Lee Ritenour's "Overtime". Great sound too. I've got a few of the BET on Jazz concert DVDs and they are very well done. The only thing I did not like was that Earl does not say a word the entire concert, not even to introduce his extroadinary band members. I was so impressed that I had to find out who these guys were but was surprised to find no listing of the band in the credits or anywhere in the extras. Terrible oversight. After you check out this DVD you will want to know who these awesome players are, especially the outstanding sax player.

A Breakthrough Crossover Indeed! Ever since Earl Klugh hit the music scene,It came as a revelation to me that even centuries-old traditional instrument like the guitar could sound contemporary sans modern day gadgets with the original guitar sound preserved. I highly recommend this quality VCD as Earl Klugh can show us that we too can crossover from classic to jazz. So get your copy now. This is a rare find.

A steal at $10 One of the Best Sounding out there! If you are into jazz and pure musicianship & have a good sounding home theater system you are going to enjoy this DVD. The the audio sound engineering and video on this DVD is excellent. The mastering , staging and mixes are great and it is in true Dolby Digital 5.1 not prologic surround like many other concert DVDs. I own about 150 concert DVDs from gospel, jazz, classical to modern drummer DVDs and this is by far my favorite. I will say that Kenny Price on sax is just awesome not to say the other musicians were lacking, they all are top notch musicians in their own rights, it's just I thought Kenny Price was a great enhancement to Earl Klugh's preformance. If there is any negative, sometimes the video camera guys would miss a preformance sync every now and then, and they forgot the musicians credits, but no big deal it does not take anything away from the audio sound or video preformance they're great. It is a steal at $10. If there is a better recorded DVD Audio concert & Preformance out there tell me!! Rating 4 1/2 Stars.
