A Boston band fronted by ex-Veruca Salt drummer Stacy Jones, American Hi-Fi is another heir to the Cheap Trick tradition of loud guitars, unpretentious attitude, and pop hooks galore. Said pop hooks are also familiar--"I'm a Fool" not only sports surprising high Beach Boys harmonies, it also quotes the chords from the Move/ELO classic "Do Ya."
Highlights include "Blue Day," a sort of 21st century version of the Beatles circa REVOLVER. "Flavor of the Weak" is an insidiously catchy tune about a girl who's disrespected by her slacker boyfriend, while "Scar" is a pounding riff rocker that makes the Cheap Trick connection especially explicit.

mix of rocy and light pop - ash/wheetus meets lighter bush this debut album is, on the whole, impressive. the first single - flavour of the weak - is the most annoying of the album, so if you dont kile it do not be put off. 'i'm a fool' is really good though, the little guitar riff stays in my mind forever after listening to it! and theres some great heavier stuff too (e.g. 'a bigger mood') with lots of powerful guitar and drums. so there is something for rock and pop fans alike - all washed down with a big friendly dollop of indie. AWSOME!!!!!!! Every song is worth the time! I think that every song is worth the time. There is only one thing wrong with this CD which is that it is PA. Many people cannot buy the CD Because of this, and if it wasn't PA then the sales would raise greatly. Submitted by a reviewer (West Point, UT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

This excellent two-disc collection captures Poco's finest moments from the days when they were laying down the template for all the country-rock music that was to follow. It's hard to remember, but when the Eagles first hit the scene, they were thought by many to be a Poco-wannabe band. Listen to this set and you'll hear why. The Forgotten Trail (1969-1974) culls tracks from Poco's first ...

Most modern hard rock bands miss the mark by over-emphasizing great riffs and neglecting the importance of complementary vocals. Luckily, such is not the case with Staind, who owe some nods to Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst for career guidance. Durst encouraged ...
