There is a veritable plethora of excellent healing music CD's available in the modern digital world. A rather high percentage of the best are by Deuter, a true master of the art. Wind and Mountain: Music for Healing and Relaxation is one of his more diverse efforts. Using a wide array of acoustic, electric, and electronic instruments, he has created pockets of warm ambience and gentle textures. The symphonic timbres add panache and verve to the set. In the tradition of the Kinks, the Television Personalities, and the Arctic Monkeys, Wild Beasts wear their Englishness on their sleeves. The key element in this otherwise standard-issue indie guitar band is lead singer Hayden Thorpe, whose startling falsetto leaps and fondness for highfalutin language to describe prosaic street scenes make him the 21st-century spawn of Sparks' Russell Mael and Morrissey. Exceedingly clever without being pretentious, LIMBO PANTO is a whimsical and endearing debut.
