$11.59 Bad Religion: Greg Graffin (vocals); Greg Hetson, Brett Gurewitz (guitar, background vocals); Brian Baker (guitar); Jay Bentley (bass, background vocals); Brooks Wackerman (drums). Bad Religion: Greg Graffin (vocals); Brett Gurewitz, Brian Baker (guitar, background vocals); Greg Hetson (guitar); Jay Bentley (bass instrument, background vocals); Brooks Wackerman (drums, percussion). In 2004, Bad Religion supplemented a magazine of reissues with one in the chamber called The Empire Strikes First. Given the state of affairs and activism of peers like NOFX's Fat Mike, it's natural for Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz, and company to point their measured seethe and trademark erudition against shady politics and policies of preemptive security. "We strike first and we're unrehearsed/Here we go again to stage the greatest show on heaven and earth," the title track rants. But Bad Religion was never just a catchy name, as "God's Love" illustrates yet again. And society doesn't get a pass, taken to task for ignorance in "Social Suicide" and suffered as the source of Graffin's profound cynicism ...
| | NOFX Greatest Hits Ever Written (By Us) CD (2004)
Release - Various Artists review
$10.79 Recording information: Motor Studios; West Beach Recorders. Photographers: Brian K. Wynacht; John Carder Bush ; Lisa Johnson; Adam Deluca; Brian Archer. Twenty years is a long time for any band, let alone one that plays jocular warp-speed anthems with titles like "Party Enema" and "Green Corn." Nevertheless, here it is, NOFX's typically self-deprecating Greatest Songs Ever Written: By Us. Entertaining liner notes trace the combo's history in photos, drawings, Xeroxed show bills, and Fat Mike's own scribbled narration; 26 tracks take you from NOFX's first full-lengths in the 1980s through their somewhat surprising, yet still snarky ...

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Jimmy Eat World: Jim Adkins , Rick Burch , Tom Linton, Zach Lind. The massive success of Jimmy Eat World's 2001 Bleed American propelled the band into the mass-culture spotlight, with the hit single "The Middle" seemingly popping up in every third movie released and the group turning in an energized performance on Saturday Night Live. Many, many groups followed in their wake, crafting a similar blend of melodic, anguished punk-pop and leaving Jimmy Eat World in the position of crafting a follow-up that set them apart from their acolytes. Futures gets around this dilemma in two ways. First, with the help ...

| | Alkaline Trio Crimson CD (2005) (Import) Bonus Track; Japan
Release - Various Artists video
$42.05 The Japanese edition of Alkaline Trio's critically acclaimed 2005 release adds "We Can Never Break Up" and "Don't Say You Won't" as bonus tracks, not found on the US and UK editions.
Japanese edition contains the bonus tracks "We Can Never Break Up" and "Don't Say You Won't." Crimson is the best next step for Alkaline Trio. It keeps Good Mourning's blacks and reds and crack melodic sense. But it's also much more accessible with its measured aggression, rich piano (courtesy of Jellyfish and studio veteran Roger Manning), and production from Jerry Finn, who's worked with blink-182 and the very-relevant-to-Alkaline Trio Jawbreaker. Like those groups Alkaline Trio has grown away from punk-pop; they've grown up. On 1998's Goddamnit!, Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano let out rowdy "woah-woahs" and wished things like "I wanna wake up naked next to you." But then that happened, and the other side of the bed wasn't as pretty. By Mourning they were dealing with death metaphors and painful levels of self-medication. Crimson has a similar sense of emotional brokenness, but things never get so heavy that you'll need the goth eyeliner -- the album's pop sense glimmers steadily beneath ...
