Benicassim album
$12.85 After the initial shock fades, the existence of CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART seems perhaps inevitable. After all, the thing Bob Dylan loves most of all are songs that are handed down from generation to generation, songs that are part of the American fabric, songs so common they never seem to have been written. These are the songs Dylan chooses to sing on CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART, a cheerfully old-fashioned holiday album from its Norman Rockwell-esque cover to its joyous backing vocals. Apart from the breakneck "Must Be Santa," which barrelhouses like a barroom, Dylan doesn't really reinterpret these songs as much as simply play them with his crackerjack road band, dropping in a little flair -- restoring "we'll have to muddle through somehow" to "Have Yourself a Merry ...

Benicassim music CDs
$18.59 "Closer Than They Appear, is the synthesis of folk, blues, and jazz. Sara K. has added more fuel to the controversy: Is there a common ground between folk and jazz? Sara K. (Paired with Chesky guitarist Bruce Dunlap who serves as her musical director) takes ready advantage of not only her labels' penchant for painstaking fidelity, but she also samples an arsenal of jazz tones and musical genre's." This CD was recorded in the original ...
| | Haujobb Matrix CDs (2005)
Benicassim songs
$10.25 Other contributing remixers include individual members of other acts such as Covenant, Forma Tadre, Steril, and Czech. Each of these acts brings their own distinct vision to the neon haujobb aural cityscape. In each case, enough of the original remains to show the musical legacy, but moves into a new territory, some of them (notably the crunchy noise-beauty of "Sub Unit One" by Czech's Gregcore) eclipsing the impact of the original in an entirely unique way. The rest are interesting explorations, well worth a listen.
Matrix unquestionably owes its existence to the wide musical range of Solutions for a Small Planet, augmented in turn by a new host of ideas and voices from other acts. The flavor of this period of haujobb's music holds true enough for this to serve as a reasonable introduction to the artists as well, a rare accomplishment for a remix release. All this makes Matrix a release that stands equal to its lofty progenitor, rather than beneath it. The bonus treat for musicians: a second sample CD containing the synth voices used in the production, some to appear on later releases by artists such as Beefcake. ~ Theo Kavadias
Haujobb's delicate and complicated flavor of electro has been loaned to many other artists in the remix scene, and Matrix is the release ...
| | Art Ensemble Of Chicago Live In Milano CD (1980)
Benicassim album
$15.95 Originally released as a bootleg only under the title AMONG THE PEOPLE.
This short (37 minutes) live set of the Art Ensemble of Chicago was recorded in August 1980, while the group was enjoying a gust of popularity, and released by the label Praxis under the title Among the People. Kostas Yiannoulopoulos was not authorized to publish it, so it came out in bootleg form with track titles and credits all messed up. In September 2001 the label Golden Years of New Jazz reissued it on CD with corrected information and the approbation of the musicians. Still, sound quality remains unconvincing and the album lacks the historical notes usually included with titles in the Golden Years series. The group performs three pieces, "Tutankhamun," "Illinstrun," ...

| | Atoosa Grey When The Cardinals Come CD (2009)
Benicassim album
$18.99 Combining the open wound delivery of Patty Griffin with the breezy elegance of Deadstar's Caroline Kennedy, Atoosa Grey is a singer/songwriter of tremendous talent. On her fourth full-length effort, When The Cardinals Come, the New Yorker takes a long look at love, desire and all the closed-fisted miles the heart has to travel by itself before it can finally open. -Caught in the Carousel, Alex GreenAtoosa Grey writes on many levels, and I suspect that if you sit five people down to listen to When The Cardinals Come you'd have a number of songs here that would end up with five interpretations. For me, When The Cardinals Come seems to dwell in the chasm that exists between hope and hopeless melancholy. Atoosa Grey manages to pluck all the strands of tragic beauty from the cloth that binds these two states and weaves them into elegant musical vignettes. I suspect it's one of those albums you'll still have and play regularly ten or twenty years from now; the musical version of a fine wine.Rating: 4.5 Stars (Out of 5) - Wildy's World, Wildy HaskellNYC based singer/songwriter Atoosa Grey was born in Tehran, Iran and raised in NJ. Her new album is stylistically varied, ...
