Limp Bizkit fans who've already bought up all the band's available material will rejoice upon the discovery of Big Dumb Face, led by Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland. A few of the tunes on DUKE LION FIGHTS THE TERROR are in keeping with the unrelenting rap-metal sound of Borland's other employers, but that's just one facet of this band's unusual sound.
The balance of Big Dumb Face's debut album is actually closer to the willfully bizarre output of Ween than to anything else. Cartoon-character vocals, goofy, absurdist lyrics, zippy music that could have come from a video game soundtrack, and oddball electronic effects are the building blocks employed here. Big Dumb Face's nothing-is-sacred approach echoes everything from Devo to Man Or Astro-Man, as they systematically defy the expectations of Limp Bizkit followers.
Originally released in 2001, a side project of Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland.
Big Dumb Face features Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit.

CMJ (3/26/01, p.11) - "...A sick marriage of over-the-top death metal and Ween-y pop....it's an absolutely ridiculous record, chock full of pitch-shifted voices and ludicrous lyrics..." this album really sucks. Submitted by kevinacg ("Cali, Valle, Colombia") Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
..what were you thinking when u made this.. this cd is a display, and perfect example, of how someone becomes washed up over time. where did the genius guitar playing go? where did the fast pace metal "thumping" sound go? I may consider this cd somewhat decent, if it didnt sound like someone gave a five year old a guitar and a voice distorter and told them to "have fun recording a cd." Its laughable. Wes, you are a genius, but this is the first strike so please try again for the fans sake. Submitted by blythe (Aurora,IL,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Hooray for Wes! This CD shows who the real talent in Limp Bizkit was originally. If you like Mr Bungle and Ween type weird stuff you will enjoy this CD. Its goes all over the place and even has a sample of the McKenzie brothers, how cool is that? Submitted by Tim (Utah) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

This is a solid overview of the first two incarnations of hard rock heroes Van Halen.
Almost evenly split between tracks that feature glammy showman David Lee Roth and those that feature earthy screecher Sammy Hagar, BEST OF VOLUME I seems designed to let this pioneering hard-rock band's fans compare and contrast between its two frontmen. As if to drive the exercise home, BEST OF features three tunes cut in '96--two of them with Roth, who had been estranged from the band since 1985, and one with Hagar ("Humans Being," originally released on the soundtrack to TWISTER).
Otherwise, BEST OF presents the hits in chronological order, beginning with the unadorned, aggressive sound of the early Roth material. Powered by guitarist Eddie Van Halen's hammer-on notes and orchestral pyrotechnics, and lightened up by Roth's used-car-salesman-on-a-bender ...
| | Satellite Street Between Sunrise And Sunset CD (2003)
Duke Lion Fights The Terror!! songs
$10.75 A STREET BETWEEN SUNRISE AND SUNSET is a 2003 release by progressive metal rockers Satellite, featuring "The Evening Wind."
It took a few years for the members of Collage, Poland's neo-progressive rock bandwagon, to pick themselves up after the group's breakup in the mid-'90s. A Street Between Sunrise and Sunset can be considered as the group's rightful heir. Written almost completely by drummer Wojtek Szadkowski (who used to be Collage's main songwriter), the album is performed by a cast of ex-Collage musicians (some of them appearing as guests). Lead singer Robert Amirian plays the soft card, aiming for the dreamy seduction of Pendragon instead of the lung-heavy theatrics of Fish. It serves the songs right, as they tend to be on the unassertive side of things. Szadkowski's writing consists mostly of an elegant midtempo propelled by a straightforward rhythm section, topped by simple melodies and featuring interesting instrumental ...
| | Obituary Slowly We Rot/Cause Of Death CDs (2003)
Duke Lion Fights The Terror!! album
$15.05 As part of its 1998 Obituary reissue campaign, Roadrunner released not only the albums themselves but also a pair of two-fers: Slowly We Rot/Cause of Death and The End Complete/World Demise. These two-fers feature not only the remastered sound of the reissues but also the same bonus tracks. Plus, they're quite a bargain relative to buying the albums individually. On the downside, you're stuck with typically unappealing two-fer artwork, and of course, you're stuck with two albums rather than one. This latter issue ...

$12.69 Sometimes the softest sounds produce the loudest impact. This seems to be the case with Aaron Kaufman's Gone. Back after a 2-year hiatus, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Connecticut's sophomore release features more of the same sensitivity seen in For The Long Ride Home in skillfully weaving together wistful lyrics and memorable melodies, but with a newfound maturity in creating a musical experience guaranteed to leave listeners wanting ...
