| | Dzihan & Kamien Gran Riserva CD (2002)
Refreaked songs
$13.19 So many production acts in the wide world of electronica have pursued a fusion of downbeat house and Brazilian/Indian forms that what was perfectly acceptable for good music during the mid-'90s had become passé by the new millennium. Though they're not in the stratosphere of music-making occupied by fellow Europeans Jazzanova and Kruder & Dorfmeister, Viennese production duo dZihan & Kamien are quite good, and their second LP shows them refining their approach while seeking the nocturnal vibes preferred by many dance ...
| | CocoRosie La Maison De Mon Reve CD (2004)
Refreaked album
$12.25 An enchanting debut, CocoRosie's La Maison de Mon Rêve is a dreamy yet challenging confection of found sounds, folk-blues, trip-hop, girlish pop, and experimental recording and production techniques. The Casady sisters' breathy, slightly different, but equally lovely vocals circle each other atop delicately plucked and strummed acoustic guitars, chirping birds, and fractured beats, making for a sound that is hard to define outside of its own beauty and creativity. A strong Billie Holiday influence colors the sisters' vocals, particularly on La Maison de Mon Rêve's most accessible songs, but even then, CocoRosie isn't so much aping Lady Day as it is invoking her style in unique ways. Layers ...

| | Woodstock 1 CD (1970) (Import) Remastered; Germany
Refreaked music CDs
$37.59 This concert album serves as the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's classic document of the legendary Woodstock music festival in 1969, with live performances by Country Joe & the Fish, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Officially it was "Music from the Original Soundtrack [of Michael Wadleigh's documentary feature film Woodstock] And More," but the triple-LP (later double-CD) Woodstock was really rock's first "coffee table" album. Bought by millions but not really listened to that often, it's amid a flood of wrong notes and the inherent flaws in recording live in front of hundreds of thousands of people in a temporary, makeshift venue. It was more satisfying for journalists and scholars than for ordinary listeners, what with its artists represented by one or two tracks and no more than 15 minutes of music by any single performer. But it did sell in the millions (and yielded a follow-up, Woodstock 2), fueled by the mystique surrounding the event and the release of the accompanying movie, and at times it did have a certain amount of energy to help drive it. There were some telling moments: the second-ever public appearance by Crosby, Stills & Nash, not in great voice but surprisingly adequate given that they were trying to harmonize in front of 250,000 people, and the introduction of Neil Young as the fourth member of the group; Joan Baez, at her most politically defiant and at the height of her reach with ...

Refreaked CD music
$12.79 LIVE AT THE ABC KINGSTON 1962 presents a live and unreleased performance by Cliff Richard.
This UK edition comes packaged in an oversized foldout sleeve.
When Cliff Richard and the Shadows toured Britain in 1962, they were by far the biggest band in the land, both riding on a string of massive hits and effortlessly selling out a 23-date outing. The decision to record a live album two-thirds of the way through the tour, then, was less an insightful attempt to preserve history as it happened than another way of prizing pennies from the ...
