All profits from the sale of SOUNDS ECLECTIC will benefit KCRW radio station at Santa Monica College and be directed toward the support of music programming on the station.
Sounds Eclectic compiles live, previously unreleased material from the archive of L.A. public radio outlet KCRW and the Nic Harcourt-hosted music program Morning Becomes Eclectic. A Yo-Yo Ma performance on solo cello is a stately enough beginning; played off later selections like the boho ramble of the Dandy Warhols' "Country Leaver" or Supreme Beings of Leisure's electronicized pop, it also illustrates that the title isn't kidding. Elsewhere Beck covers Hank Williams ("Lonesome Whistle"); Willie Nelson gives "Healing Hands of Time" a gentle arrangement for acoustic guitar, accordion, and harmonica; and Montreal's Stars suggest the Notwist with their halting "Going, Going, Gone." Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Energy Flow" closes the collection on a studied, quietly hopeful solo piano note. Sounds Eclectic offers a nice ride through the varied styles and colors of contemporary music, and even puts its proceeds toward continuing support for KCRW. ~ Johnny Loftus

Sounds Eclectic songs
$38.09 (MP3 Available for Download) DREAMS is a 4-CD box set compiling in chronological order tracks by the Allman Brothers Band, as well as tracks by bands featuring one or more member of the Allman Brothers Band and solo performances by Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts.
Recorded between 1966 & 1988. Includes a 32-page illustrated booklet and liner notes by John Swenson.
Like nearly all box sets, DREAMS has plenty to recommend it-and a few nagging drawbacks. The set's chief shortcoming is its two conflicting goals: providing an overview of the Allmans' history, thus attracting buyers seeking the ultimate hits package, and including enough unreleased tracks and rarities to appeal to the band's most devoted fans. As a result, DREAMS is neither ...
| | Traffic Definitive Collection CD (2000) Remastered
Sounds Eclectic album
$10.45 (MP3 Available for Download) Digitally remastered by Tom Ruff (Universal Music Studios East, Edison, New Jersey).
This release was formerly titled: FEELIN' ALLRIGHT: THE VERY BEST OF TRAFFIC.
This well thought-out anthology includes just about every notable Traffic track from their peak years of 1968 to 1971. What immediately impresses here is the range of the band and the variety of their influences. They veer from psychedelic pop (love that cheesy sitar on their debut hit, "Paper Sun"), to jazz-inflected R&B on the instrumental "Glad," via Celtic folk in the lovely, pastoral "John Barleycorn Must Die," and the psychedelic rock of San Francisco-style ...

Sounds Eclectic CD music

Recorded between 1968 & 1976. Includes a 52-page booklet with photographs and liner notes by Holly George-Warren and Bud Scoppa.
Were it not for Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, the universally acknowledged king and queen of progressive country, countless young alt-counry bands would have never donned their faded Levi's and battered Telecasters in the first place, and even if they did, they'd surely sound a lot different. In 2001, the smart folks at Rhino Records saw fit to release ...
| | Doors Legacy: The Absolute Best CDs (1967)
Sounds Eclectic MP3 Album
$19.79 Recorded between 1967 & 1983. Includes liner notes by Jim Ladd.
Released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Doors album, THE VERY BEST OF THE DOORS supercedes all former Doors compilations. At two discs and 34 tracks, this is quite comprehensive for a band whose key lineup released only half a dozen albums. In addition to all the expected hits like "Light My Fire," "Hello I Love You," and "Roadhouse Blues," this compilation delves much deeper into the catalogue with fan favorites such as "Not To Touch the Earth" and "Wishful Sinful," as well as a handful of previously obscure rarities. Remastered and newly remixed by original engineer Bruce Botnick and the surviving members of the Doors, ...
