| An almost classic war movie In Harm's Way movie The story begins after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. There are men who are to be war heroes, hard battles at sea and human feelings. Otto Preminger directs a brilliant cast including John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Brandon de Wilde, George Kennedy and many others, and revives realistically the atmosphere in the war ships (black and white picture is an add on!). The dvd comes in widescreen version and offers "The making of" By a reviewer (Athens, Greece) |

| Great WWII movie! John Wayne and Kirk Douglas are excellent in this black and white World War II movie. By nathanwi2 (Savannah, GA) |
| A Stinker In Harm's Way video This is basically a John Wayne movie with all the standard boring posturing plus an even more boring love plot added. In Harm's Way film As the battleship Yamato shows up and Wayne seems to have stopped it single handedly, it is probably alluding to the Battle of Leyte Gulf in which the Japanese were turned back by an almost unbelievable group of sailors in what has been called the `Tin Can Navy' (i,e. tiny escort ships). So because it's probably a perversion of history and an insult to the heroism of the real sailors, Wayne and Preminger had no right to create this piece of junk. Avoid at all costs !!! | All Time Great War Movie In Harm's Way review John Wayne is sensational in this movie. He is older, yet in my opinion, at his best. The story line follows several diffent angles of war from combat to romance. You feel each relationship portrayed. Otto Preminger was a master at the art of movie making. They really don't make movies like this anymore. Please give it a try. By a reviewer (Alpine, Utah, USA) |
