A navy man goes out to capture strategic islands held by the Japanese during World War II. It doesn't get more macho than this: IN HARM'S WAY was directed by Otto Preminger and stars John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, George Kennedy, and many more tough guys.

The story begins after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. There are men who are to be war heroes, hard battles at sea and human feelings. Otto Preminger directs a brilliant cast including John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Brandon de Wilde, George Kennedy and many others, and revives realistically the atmosphere in the war ships (black and white picture is an add on!). The dvd comes in widescreen version and offers "The making of".

One of JW's best. Enjoyable from start to finish. A must for all John Wayne fans.

Great WWII movie!
John Wayne and Kirk Douglas are excellent in this black and white World War II movie.

John Wayne is sensational in this movie. He is older, yet in my opinion, at his best. The story line follows several diffent angles of war from combat to romance. You feel each relationship portrayed. Otto Preminger was a master at the art of movie making. They really don't make movies like this anymore. Please give it a try.

The hilarious DONOVAN'S REEF, one of John Ford's rare but memorable forays into comedy, is set on the South Sea island of Haleakoloha, where two navy buddies have decided to stay after World War II.
