(1 Customer Review)
California Bay-Area gangsta rapper Dru Down takes his pimpin'-themed rhymes to another level on Gangsta Pimpin', no doubt a suitable name for this album. Much like fellow Bay-Area rappers E-40 and Too Short, as well as his group, the Luniz, Dru has his mind on a few things in particular: women, money, partying, and more women -- in that order. You can't help but find this album quite fun and somewhat humorous; Dru doesn't take himself too seriously, exemplified best on songs such as "Bloodsucker." Much like post-Death Row Snoop Dogg, Dru is a rather peaceful gangsta, interested in getting his pimp on and livin' large like a real hustler -- in other words, the Cali dream for a G like himself. His previous albums have explored similar "gangsta pimpin'" themes, but here Dru seems a bit more amusing than usual -- perhaps even cartoonish -- thanks to his lighthearted attitude toward the gangsta lifestyle. ~ Jason Birchmeier

Gangsta Pimpin'
$13.15 Enter the Jacka. The death of 2Pac in the mid 90's ripped the heart out of West Coast Hip Hop. At the same time a young street poet named the Jacka was honing his skills in the Bay Area Rap game. Always open minded, he was influenced by b-boys and thugs, pimps and Imams. The Jacka has since developed into an established, well-rounded, well-versed emcee in the right place to bring the West Coast some serious attention. The Jacka's music is a reflection of his life. He witnessed the birth of the dope game and the drug war that followed, as the battle was waged in his community, on his block, and in his house. Memories of departed loved ones haunt his mind and soul. His release is to share his experiences through his music. Reality hurts. Rap is the Jacka's medicine. ...

Gangsta Pimpin'
$10.19 The last album recorded by the Pretty Things before Phil May left; within months of this recording, the band split for a few years. Even more than Silk Torpedo, Savage Eye seemed to have been cannily devised with an eye toward picking up FM airplay in the U.S. There were hard rock, glam rock, and AOR rock influences from David Bowie, Queen, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney to be heard at various ...

Gangsta Pimpin'
$14.75 Shelby Singleton was a longtime record man in the Deep South who, after years of working A&R for Mercury Records, decided to strike out on his own with the SSS International Label in 1967. While Singleton released all sorts of music (and later enjoyed his greatest success taking over the legendary Sun label from Sam Phillips), SSS International was responsible for some great Southern soul sides, and this collection from Sundazed features 20 top tunes from the label's vaults. Singleton seemed to be the kind of guy who loved a hook or a gimmick, and more than a few of the tunes here have some narrative ...
| | Harry Allen Hey, Look Me Over CD (2006)
Gangsta Pimpin'
$13.25 The first fact one needs to know about the Harry Allen-Joe Cohn Quartet is that it is, as described in the liner notes, a "working band." This may sound like a negligible fact on Hey, Look Me Over, but it isn't. A number of famous combos in the history of jazz have only played together in the studio. Here, however, guitarist Cohn, tenor Allen, bassist Joel Forbes, and drummer Chuck Riggs have developed the synchronicity that only comes from performing together night after night. For Hey, Look Me Over, that equals an hour of lovely ensemble work highlighted by some well-wrought guitar and tenor workouts on a solid set list. The next thing one would want to know about the Harry Allen-Joe Cohn Quartet is ...

| | Sheevaun Moran Weight Less CD (2006)
Gangsta Pimpin'
$10.15 Everyone who has wanted their weight to change will benefit by this CD. This an additional tool to use when you've made the choice to change your weight through better eating and exercise. Enjoy your health!BIO:For many years I tried to meditate. I went on retreats, took classes, read books about how to meditate. None of them worked. I was never able to quiet my mind enough to sit still. So like most people who wish to get quiet and cannot I just gave up.Then I took a class about energy healing, Pranic Healing, and at the end of the class they told us we were going to meditate. Inside I laughed and thought "right". Anyway after about 3 minutes of my eyes being closed I peeked around the room and thought "This is a first, my mind is quiet. Now what?" After that I got that CD and tried again and again. I didn't have the same success, but certainly wanted to feel the quietness again. So I powered through many days of trying and succeeded and became the teacher for many people wanting to gain peace in their lives.Since 1993 I have been meditating successfully. I have meditated during times of difficulty in life and difficulty in health. I have even meditated when there was major construction projects going on around my home.Having successfully accomplished meditation in nearly any situation I began teaching meditation. I broke down each of the things that frustrated me about learning to meditate, what were myths and what was applicable to today's world and began teaching meditation. After most classes the students would ask about me making meditation CD's. I put them off and said that they didn't need me or my voice to get them to meditate. ...
