The Hero of a Hundred Fights CD-EP The Remote, the Cold is four songs that offer what appears to be two different bands. The first two songs are good hardcore rock with the first track, "Apparently We Didn't Give You Enough Rope," eerily reminiscent of Cast Iron Hike or Only Living Witness with its dark, melodic East Coast-influenced hardcore sound. The second track, "Faction Paradox," has vocal melodies similar to Tool at certain points. After that track, however, things aren't quite as interesting. "The Celestis" is the third track and like much of the overall feel of the album, it just seems to subsist without really causing any interest to be aroused. Perhaps this is part of the fundamental problem with EPs in general: they fail to give the listener much time to be able to absorb much sound before the recording is finished. The fourth song is the worst of the bunch; although by no means horrible, it -- like much of the rest of the album -- has few heavy hooks by which to stimulate interest in hearing more material from Hero of a Hundred Fights. ~ Kurt Morris
Recorded in Chicago, Illionis in November 2000.

Remote The Cold music CDs
$13.39 When South by Southwest was held at the Hyatt, Christine Albert once landed a showcase in the hotel's atrium bar, an acoustically wretched space cavernously rising 17 floors to the top of the building. Yet hearing Albert singing "La Vie en Rose" from the 15th floor was as memorable as any conference moment this writer recalls. Her voice floated, the song's lyrical beauty free and dancing in the ether. The Edith Piaf tune was from Albert's 1992 TexaFrance album, ...
