Hope and Glory video I have heard many people criticise this film for reasons including the way it depicts war, the lack of storyline it pays to the war and have even heard it compraed to Lord of the Rings?!?! I however am about to recommend this film with every fibre of my being. Hope and Glory film I was born in the late seventies and was the final child of a woman who was quite literally born in the middle of the Battle of Britain (under the stairs as the bombs fell all around). Having spoken to my my mother and her elder sisters, I can confirm that this film depicts in a more realistic way than any other ever has, what WWII was like for the children of that time. I have heard many stories from my mother and aunts about that time and see many parallels with this film. It is meant more as an insight into the life of a child during the war than as anything else. The direction is to such a standard that you would swear that there was a narrator present throughout the film yet it manages not to be predictable. It shows the true war faced by many in Britain of 1940 and shows the changes in society such a war effected. Watch this film! It is historically accurate, realistic and completely without overblown sensationalism. Wish all war movies were this accurate!

||a truly fantastic film! honesly.|
Hope and Glory DVD for sale I watched this film about 4 years ago and it made a lasting impression on me, i have wanted to view it again ever since. it was so different to other war films as it was about the families back home rather than the men on the battle fields. the story is both moving and amusing, its also interesting to see just how different life was in those times. a really brilliant, lovely film. if you get the chance to watch it, you should. im gonna go buy it now!

||A crude version of Lord of the Flies|
This is a very crude movie with little to redeem it other than the World War II setting. It could have been so much more. I am sorry I wasted my money purchasing it and sorry I wasted my time to watch it. I am throwing it away.
