O Brother, Where Art Thou? video Their adventures through the barren landscape includes run-ins with a soothsayer, a trio of Sirens, a Bible-salesman Cyclops, as well as other archetypes from Southern folklore and pop-culture including a young blues musician, the Klan, and bank robber Baby Face Nelson. O Brother, Where Art Thou? film Soon they are caught up in a vicious gubernatorial campaign that would make Huey Long proud.

The Coen brothers mix in a host of cinematic references in O BROTHER, including SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS, COOL HAND LUKE, I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG, and even dashes of the Three Stooges O Brother, Where Art Thou? review. Homer in Mississippi?
I thought it was a great idea to put Homer's story in a Mississippi setting.Even if you don't think this movie is funny you still have to admit that it's entertaining. The unique characters and beautiful music help add to this amazing adventure.

They came so close...
To making this a great movie. The music is great, the acting is superb, but the story was at times just too hard to piece together. The men who wrote this movie are trying to re-tell Homer's "Odyssey" from a 1937 Mississippi point of view...good idea, but came up short of the potential this movie had to be a classic.

Homer's Odyssey in the 21st century
This is a wonderful adaption of the Odyssey to America's depressed South, replete with a blind prophet, sirens, cyclops and treasures found then lost.

O Brother, What A Great Movie !!!
When I rented this movie from the local video shop, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. Before I returned the video, I had watched it four times! What a hoot! It helped that I'm familiar with much of the music in the movie and could relate the characters to their counterparts in Homer's "Oddysey". But, that doesn't matter. This movie had me bent over laughing. The scenes at the radio station with the Soggy Bottom Boys are reason enough to get this movie. This movie is just chock full of great scenes. Never a dull moment. And the music is absolutely wonderful. Great songs performed by great performers. To see George Clooney performing "Mam Of Constant Sorrow" (even if he is lip-syncing) is priceless. Get this movie. It is, by far, one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in a long, long time. And while you're at it, pick yourself up some Dapper Dan Pomade for that special look...

Great CD, great movie!
This is an outstanding cross-section of American "roots" music which dovetailed perfectly with the hilarious movie it is married to. Kudos to T-Bone Burnett for a soundtrack that should win an Oscar hands-down.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? DVD Features

O Brother, Where Art Thou? Disenchanted with the daily drudge of crushing rocks on a prison farm in Mississippi, the dapper, silver-tongued Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney, THE PERFECT STORM) busts loose. Except he's still shackled to his own chain-mates from the chain gang -- bad-tempered Pete (John Turturro, SUMMER OF SAM), and sweet, dimwitted Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson, HAMLET). With nothing to lose and buried loot to regain -- before it's lost forever in a flood -- the three embark on the adventure of a lifetime in this hilarious offbeat road picture. Populated with strange characters, including a blind prophet, sexy sirens, and a one-eyed Bible salesman (John Goodman, COYOTE UGLY), it's an odyssey filled with chases, close calls, near misses, and betrayal that will leave you laughing at every outrageous and surprising twist and turn.
