This package goes to great lengths to stress that it was once a five-record set, shrunk down to a three-disc set -- sort of oldies by the pound. The titles printed on the outside of the package are all the info you get; no booklet, no liner notes, no recording information of any kind are to be found, but there's a good reason for that. Quite simply, this set is a major burn, with inferior recuts festooned between others that are the original versions. Some of these recuts are pretty close to the originals (they're supposed to be), taking a trained ear to unfold the chicanery -- which is a real shame, because there are some genuine rarities on here, like Charlie Feathers' "One Hand Loose" and Little Willie John's "Tell It Like It Is." With so many oldies packages out there that feature nothing but the original versions, a collection like this is simply inexcusable. ~ Cub Koda
