This odd little compilation of lighthearted Johnny Cash songs proves that the Man In Black didn't always confine himself to somber subjects. Suitable both for older kids and grown-ups who feel like a dose of oddball humor, it highlights the country legend's lighter side--the most well-known of the songs is his get-tough-or-die hit "A Boy Named Sue." "Everybody Loves a Nut" is pure Ray Stevens-type 1960s Nashville tomfoolery, while Cash and band sound like they're having a great time on his spoof tearjerker, "Flushed From the Bathroom of Your Heart." "Look At Them Beans" is the singer's country remake of Joe Tex's R&B homily, "Papa's Dream," while "One Piece At a Time," the story of a car built out of purloined parts, was another hit, topping the country charts in the mid-'70s.

4 stars Chicken in Black....ummm
Johnny Cash in the good years. This is the only album I could find with Chicken in Black. The other tracks are equally humourous and musically, the unsurpassed and irrepressable Johnny Cash style, we'll never see his like again.. A rare and subtle vintage that can be enjoyed again and again.

4 stars good review of the story songs of his career
This is wonderful to hear his fun songs. I really need the Everybody Loves a nut album in CD form but it hasn't been released as anything but the original LP. Wish they would realize how many wonderful memeories they could sell if they put that album on one of the newer formats.

4 stars Walking the line and laughing
An excellent album bringing together Johnny's most amusing songs. Although most are available on various other albums, this is the only one with the surreal 'Chicken In Black' which last appeared on cassette over 20 years ago. CD Universe should take credit for being the only site listing this album - well done!.

The Fondas are one of the seemingly endless stream of garage bands flowing out of Detroit in the early 2000s. Coming Now! is their debut record.
