That this 2001 collection doesn't begin with "Sugar, Sugar," still the only number-one single of the year (1969) by a fake band, says everything you need to know. As much as is possible for a disc from a cartoon group inspired by a series of comic books, ABSOLUTELY THE BEST gives the Archies the serious treatment, presenting sixteen of their best songs in roughly chronological order. The music blurs past like a sugar rush, which is the point.

Personally, this is my favorite type of music, music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, because it is all I really like to listen to. It is the time period for which I was growing up. I recomend it to anyone.

Hi, If you love bubblegum music, this is a fine cd to buy! I have one other Archies cd an 18 song compilation called "Sugar-Sugar" which I also really like. Absolutely the Best of the Archies has extensive liner notes, which I am very happy to have ...there are three or more songs in my opinion missing from this best of..."over and over" "little green jacket" "this is the night" are a few of the songs I'm glad I also have on the sugar sugar compilaton...anyway, if you're reading this and considering buying this CD...Go for it! Bless.. p.s. I am presently creating the coolest bubblegum music ever!! Also putting together a cartoon band! Write me for more info...:)

AS A YOUNGSTER I DO CONFESS TO A CERTAIN FASCINATION FOR CARTOONS, BUT WHAT I LIKED MOST ABOUT THE ARCHIES, WAS THEIR MUCIC. THIS IS A GREAT DISC, WITH NOT ONLY THE WELL KNOWN HITS, BUT LESSER KNOWN AND EQUALLY GOOD MATERIAL. MY FAVORITES ARE "SUGAR,SUGAR", AND SKOOBY DO (feelin'so good). THE LINER NOTES ARE NOT AS COMPLETE AS I WOULD LIKE, BUT THE DISC ITSELF IS CLEAN, AND THE CONTENT IS TERRIFIC. AS A COMPLETE ARCHIES COMP, I DON'T THINK IT CAN BE BEAT.

The Archies...what can I say?
They were the greatest cartoon/
studio band ever.
I mean the sound,the beat,the
tempo...it's all there.
There's an old adage:"If it ain't
broke...Don't fix it."
I've got almost all their vinyl
albums except one:This Is Love,
their final album together.
It's a shame that RCA-Victor
Records couldn't use the master
sessions and record them on to
CD,Or better yet...Make a Box
set of The ARCHIES.
Call it "THE ARCHIES,THE ALBUMS".
You bet your boots that I would
buy that compilation.And anybody
who is an avid ARCHIES fan,would
too.

Gotta Love 'em
I have to agree with coreyleland, there are a few (very few) of The Archies Greatest Hits missing from this compilation, but ya gotta get it all onto just one disk. And so, it gets only 4 stars, but NOT for Quality, only Quantity!!!
