(2 Customer Reviews)
World-class guitar virtuoso Armik plays 12 exquisite songs on his sixth release for the BajaTSR label titled Rosas Del Amor. He tops his best-selling Isla del Sol by using fresh romantic themes based on his journeys through Spain. Each song is as pure and fragile as a moment in life itself, simply said, like the life of a rose. Armik plays 12 different guitars in order to bring the individual melodies and arrangements of each song to the anticipated desire of his listeners. His flair for dramatic imagery is readily apparent on the opening track titled "Lovers in Madrid." Armik immediately captivates you with his lyricism -- holding on to you with dynamic but graceful chord stylings. It's an invitation to pure love. "Midnight in Barcelona" continues his romantic journey through Spain and captures the excitement of Barcelona at midnight with dramatic punctuation, colors, rhythms, and textures. The eighth rose in this compositional bouquet is the title track, "Rosas del Amor" -- a breathtaking flamenco rumba that exudes truly deep and loving red colors that the master guitarist takes straight to your heart. All of the compositions were written by Armik who plays each of them with a special touch and with a mastery reminiscent of the great Andres Segovia. These 12 sketches of Spain are truly vivid and vary in sumptuous flamenco and Latin jazz tones that Armik contrasts with gorgeous improvisations. ~ Paula Edelstein

Rosas Del Amor
$15.39 Amor De Guitarra is Armik's eighth solo recording and his second release for the Bolero record label. As one of the leaders of a movement that has been called flamenco nuevo or "new flamenco," which combines Spanish flamenco guitar with other Latin forms, this program is a true testament to the Western European style of world music. Amor De Guitarra is also one of Armik's most beautiful efforts since it effectively chronicles his respect, love and joy of playing the flamenco guitar on 11 newly composed songs. This passionate recording reflects Armik's world-class mastery of nuance, chord voicings and international rhythms composed and arranged for solo performers. His use of pre-recorded castanets and horn charts as musical pads bring the lively "Fiesta" full circle -- giving it the celebratory feeling of Spain. "Midnight Bolero" is an exquisite song, colorized with romantic hues and beautifully played as a ballad. It is so beautiful that one's senses are heightened to the point of true nirvana. "Fragile Hearts" has a lively calypso backbeat that truly enhances Armik's amazing agility and string virtuosity. Overall, this great program is filled with technical brilliance and compositional integrity, and it fills the heart, mind and soul with the joy of beautiful music. Amor De Guitarra ...

| | Flesh N' Blood 5th Dog Let Loose CD (2000) (Import) Import
Rosas Del Amor
$43.09 The Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member's 2000 solo album, released as he started serving an 11-year prison sentence, features one bonus track.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Flesh-N-Bone greeted the release of this CD at the wrong end of an 11-year jail sentence for threatening a friend with an AK-47, a wrinkle understandably played up for all it's worth with the CD artwork, which features the rapper--you guessed it--behind bars, in chains. 5TH DOG is a surprising and entertaining listen--full of sound effects, imaginative rhymes, syncopated rapping, and fresh-sounding arrangements that are sure to attract even those previously immune to rap's charms.
There are even tracks, such as "Way Back," that if it wasn't for the violence and "explicit content" would veer close to pop songs; the aforementioned is a lament for Tupac, Biggie, Big Pun, and the other rap Hall Of Famers who've fallen in the dangerous pursuit of keeping it real. There's a regretful atmosphere undercutting the stock bragging (there's an aside of "playtime is over" at the top of "If You Could See") that gives this set a real depth that's missing from many similar offerings. Stanley Howse (Flesh-N-Bone) is a smart, innovative rapper, squeezing so many syllables out per bar that he's either heavily influenced by Jamaican dancehall, or wants to get as much into each song as he can while he's still a free man.

| | Best Of Fumio: Music For Sleep CD (2004)
Rosas Del Amor
$10.09 The Best of Fumio is a collection of music from the goundbreaking Japanese composer Fumio Miyashita. Fumio\'s illustrious career spans over three decades, during which time he has released over 80 albums in Japan alone, and millions worldwide. Fumio\'s healing music was created in the riches of nature in the lizuna highalnds of rural Japan. It is here that Fumio sought to understand the principles of harmony found in Oriental philosophy and Medical Science, which he then applied to his unique style of therapeutic music. Our present world, referred to as a \"left-brain society\" puts great emphasis on logical, information processing -- versus creativity and imagination, which are ruled by the right hemisphere of the brain. Certain music ...
