The Seeds' first two albums were also their best. THE SEEDS, featuring the stomping garage-punk classics "Pushin' Too Hard" and "Can't Seem To Make You Mine," arguably the hardest pre-heavy metal singles, is clearly a snot-nose classic. It's all in the song titles--"Evil Hoodoo," "No Escape," "Girl I Want You"--and the malevolence of the band's playing, especially that of organist Daryl Hooper and guitarist Jan Savage.
A WEB OF SOUND is both a refinement and an abandonment of this approach. Some songs, especially "Mr. Farmer" and "Tripmaker," are as punky and psychedelic as anything on the debut. The last track, the 14-minute "Up In Her Room" is a total trip, like the Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray" reinterpreted by the free-jazz lunatics in the Red Crayola. Very weird, and if you're so inclined, very cool. Highly recommended.
Mind-blowing two-fer featuring the first two albums from the Los Angeles Garage rockers, together on one CD. Best known for their trashy hit 'Pushin' Too Hard', The Seeds raw and ragged Rock contained elements of Psychedelia and Garage Rock and they were a huge influence on the Punk scene that raised it's agitated head a decade later. Comes with sleevenotes and rare photos. 19 tracks including the aforementioned hit and 'Can't Seem To Make You Mine. Diablo.
Recorded in Hollywood, California.

Seeds/A Web Of Sound album
$15.89 The Seeds' 1967 Future LP coupled with another release from that same year, the Sky Saxon Blues Band's "solo" disc A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues, is exciting for collectors as it helps bring the prototype punk group's catalog together under one roof, though these two albums are worlds apart. Future was not only an effort to be totally psychedelic, it explored that world with a vengeance, while A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues is Sky Saxon (aka Richard Marsh) tempting fate by venturing into sacred ground where icons like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf reign supreme. The punk-pop delicacies are fun while the blues experiment ...

Seeds/A Web Of Sound CD music
$15.89 RAW & ALIVE AT MERLIN'S MUSIC was originally released in 1967.
The Seeds were an exceptional band that never achieved the success that they inspired. This album has a truly psychedelic cover with too-dark-for-pastel colors, swirling letters over eerie faces, and dynamic black and white photos on the back. If you want to see the image of Iggy Pop clothed, just look at Sky Saxon in the bottom right photo on the back cover with the screaming girl holding a flower grabbing at him. He had the image down, as well as the music. "900 Million People Daily All Making Love" sounds so much like the Doors and Jim Morrison's "When the Music's Over," one has to wonder which came first, ...

Seeds/A Web Of Sound CD music
$34.89 The 1997 reissue of DANDY IN THE UNDERWORLD features 5 additional tracks that did not appear on the original release; "To Know You Is To Love You (To Know Him Is To Love Him)," "City Port," "Dandy In The Underworld (Single Version)," "Tame My Tiger" and "Celebrate Summer."
PRINCE OF PLAYERS is Edsel's alternate version of DANDY IN THE UNDERWORLD.
T. Rex's final release came out in 1977, when punk emerged like a ragged, safety-pin bedecked David to strike the Goliath of progressive rock square between the eyes with a well-aimed, rough-edged rock. The musical landscape has never been quite the same since.
Marc Bolan, always a keen observer of musical trends, was quick to embrace the punk ethos, even declaring himself to be its godfather. But DANDY is no punk record. It's an eclectic set, but all in all, it sounds like T. Rex. "Jason B. Sad" has a "Get it On" flavor, while "I Love to Boogie" has a similar feel to the classic "Jeepster." The title track, a midtempo groover, sports synthesizer textures and slick production. Yet these songs show Bolan's heartfelt commitment to classic chord patterns of '50s rock & roll, as the cover of "To Know Him Is to Love Him" further attests. It's hard to hear the punk influence here: certainly "We love to boogie/on a Saturday night" is a far cry from "I want to be anarchy..." But in an era when rock was becoming increasingly self-important, T. Rex shared the ...
