The music of Systematic, as represented on the quartet's debut album SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN is clearly not your father's heavy metal. Though they're obviously influenced by the likes of Metallica, the band has more in common with contemporaries like System of a Down, fusing metallic crunch and old-school melodic sensibilities with a very modern approach to heavy rock. Like any hard rock band worth its salt, Systematic utilizes bone-crunching guitar riffs, jackhammer rhythms, and angst-ridden vocals to paint a sonic portrait of a world overtaken by anger, tumult, and general mayhem. But its in the combination of compact, compressed, industrial-influenced production and James Hetfield-like lion-king roar that the Systematic sound is truly defined. SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN stands to prove that contemporary heavy rock bands can nod to the past without forsaking the future.

It's about time! I first heard systematic on HBO's "REVERB". Just hearing the first song was enough to hook me. I haven't heard an album this powerful in years. It's rare that I get an album that gives me chills with nearly every song. I gotta give Narducci credit for his outstanding vocals. Submitted by a reviewer (Bronx, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Most modern hard rock bands miss the mark by over-emphasizing great riffs and neglecting the importance of complementary vocals. Luckily, such is not the case with Staind, who owe some nods to Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst for career guidance. Durst encouraged vocalist Aaron Lewis to sing more and scream less, which proved to be a key factor in the band's development. The appeal of Staind lies in the purity and fierce emotional ...

Somewhere In Between CD music

| | Systematic Pleasure To Burn CD (2003)
Somewhere In Between CD music
$9.29 Systematic first made noise in 2001 as the initial signing to Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich's vanity label. His Music Company imprint folded in 2002, but Systematic was picked up by Elektra after a strong showing at Ozzfest '01 and promising sales of its debut. Unfortunately, Pleasure to Burn, its sophomore effort, is a collection of mid-tempo doom rockers that doesn't stray very far from the precedent songwriters Tim Narducci (vocals/guitar) and Adam Ruppel (guitar) established with Systematic's debut. Together with new rhythm section Johnny Bechtel (bass) and Paul Bostaph (who previously drummed for Slayer), Narducci and Ruppel plod through an unimaginative, gloomy set that owes a considerable debt to Alice in Chains, and does little to stand out from the other ...
| | Take 6 Join The Band CD (1994)
Somewhere In Between music CDs
$6.09 Principally recorded at Emerald Sound and 16th Avenue Sound, Nashville, Tennessee and at Can-Am Studios, Tarzana, California.
JOIN THE BAND won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.
"All I Need (Is A Chance)" was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
This gospel-infused, jazz-inspired sextet shows all the little boy vocal harmony groups how it's done. The lyrics are geared towards God, but the slick, bubbly production is cool and soulful R&B all the way. Their picture-perfect, rhythmically fascinating voice texturing certainly doesn't need any embellishment; however, on hand to lend support are ...
| | Foil Never Got Hip CD (2000)
Somewhere In Between songs
$10.95 Well-named, this LP, much more so than its predecessor. The Scotland four's smashing 1998 debut Spread It All Around was virtually spread nowhere. "Never Got Hip?" More like "Never Got Heard." If I told you to go out and get some Foil, you'd come back with some Reynolds Wrap for sure. And for the second straight time, that's unfair. Even without the great Paul Tipler to assist them this time, Foil still storm, right from the crunching backbeat intro of the opening title track, laying on the riffs thick, tight, powerful, and tempestuous. The backing guitar leads soar, the bass rumbles, the drums thunder, and the entire post-punk beast is revived in all its ornery grandeur. Best of all, for the second straight platter, these Brits are steeped in variety, dusting in liberal doses of slow tempos, more pensive sways, and less dense auras. There are even three thoughtful, lithe, ...
