When her psychotic mother and sadistic classmates finally go too far, a tortured high school misfit becomes an unrestrained vengeance-seeking powerhouse with the help of her mysterious telekinetic powers. From the novel by Stephen King. Carrie, a shy teenager with a fiercely religious and oppressive mother, struggles to come to terms with her emerging sexuality and extraordinary telekinetic powers. Just as she's beginning to enjoy a sudden change in her life, a cruel practical joke drives her to a monstrous act of revenge and destruction. Brian De Palma's commercial breakout, based on a novel by Stephen King, helped launch a whole slew of teen-based horror films, and Carrie the blood-spattered prom queen has taken her throne in the pantheon of modern American myth. High school girls played by Amy Irving (in her film debut), P.J. Soles, and Nancy Allen plot to avenge themselves on ostracized fellow student and budding telekinetic Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) after they get in trouble for pelting her with tampons. When they get popular boy Tommy Ross (William Katz) to be her date for the prom, the stage is set for some heart-rending cruelty and fiery retribution. De Palma expertly uses split screens, slow motion, color filters, and tracking shots to imbue the proceedings with a haunting, allegorical elegance. Piper Laurie plays Carrie's mentally ill, devoutly Christian mom; she's brilliant, as is Spacek. John Travolta has a memorable pre-SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER role as one of the girls' beer-guzzling boyfriends. There was finally a sequel in 1999, as well as a short-lived Broadway musical. Theatrical Release: November 3, 1976. Carrie Reviews: "Brian De Palma's best movie, his virtuoso technique meeting its match in Sissy Spacek's touching performance."

Carrie Movie Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) Jacob's Raitings Carrie was a good movie, not the best movie, but it was close to the book. this movie was both scary and entertaining. Stephen King Started his career with this book. As for the movie well I like this version better than the remade 2002 version because in the remade one Carrie Lives! OH MY GOD but I think the story like the book and this movie is the best one. Definatley one to buy, I rait it on 3 stars for a good movie Submitted by Jacob Starks "OLLIEOH" (West Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
HORROR AT ITS BEST The novel was written by Stephen King and the film was directed by Brian De Palma. Carrie was destined for greatness. This is a psychologically compelling horror film which showcases a teenage girl who is very shy and confused about life. She is very insecure and very uncertain about many things involved with life. Her name is Carrie and she is living with her crazy Mother and finds it hard to fit in with everyday life because she lacks everyday knowledge. She also employs telekinetic powers and she is able to move things with her mind. Her peers are very cruel and treat her with disrespect because they think she's a weirdo. After she feels that she is finally fitting in and enjoying her life and standing up to her crazed Mother, a prank gets pulled at the Senior Prom and she is humiliated by having pigs blood poured all over her in front of the entire senior year. However, Carrie gets her revenge and uses her powers to extract revenge on everybody and allows them to feel the pain that she had felt for her whole life. The ending of the film is a classic set piece and probably what the film is most remembered for. This was probably Sissy Spacek’s greatest performance ever. This film is a fantastic exercise in suspense and emotional drama. This definitive revenge horror flick employs a perfect mix of adolescent development and religious sequences combined with horror and suspense. This is Brian De Palma at his best. Own this classic 1976 horror film which opened the doors for many other teenage horror films to come after it. Submitted by Joey 34 (L.A California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

VERY SCARY AND SAD! When I watched this film I thought it was the the best movie I ever seen. I look past the blood and the murders and look at the sad parts about Carrie. Her whole life had been nothing but bullying and beaten by the students and her mother. I don't feel sorry for those students, except the gym teacher. I think the best part of the movies was when Carrie came home after the horror at the prom and was talking to her mother. All she wanted was to be hold instead she get something much, much worse from her mother. If I could I'll give this movie 1,000,000 stars. | | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Carrie film
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS has a live, up-front feeling, thanks to producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden). Zakk Wylde's huge, raw guitar also plays a major role. He provides scorching solos, lush textures and juicy fills with a muscular tone and minimal effects--the perfect complements to Osbourne's songwriting.
But more important than the raging guitars and the big sound is attitude. Ozzy's spunk has indeed rejected retirement. His songs still spew biting commentary at whoever will listen. "Your bulls**t culture licking can't stop the deathwatch ticking/You're only mortal after all," he warns on "Thunder Underground." Ozzy himself may not be immortal, but OZZMOSIS sounds like it is.
Despite a never-ending succession of guitarists, Ozzy Osbourne never changed his basic musical attack over the years. There are slight differences between the records, with the only noticeable distinctions being the production fads of the time. Ozzmosis, his sixth solo studio album, isn't all that different from his previous two records, No More Tears and No Rest for the Wicked, largely due to the still impressive skills of guitarist Zakk Wylde. However, even Wylde's prowess is diluted by the slick, mode

TORQUE: The producer of THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS (2001) and XXX (2002) delivers another amped-up road-racing action spectacle in TORQUE. It's the saga of Ford (Martin Henderson) a motorcycle-riding outlaw who wants to clear his name of drug and murder charges. The cops are after him, as are rival cycle gangs caught up in a war over turf rights. Everyone in the film is tough and cool, with lightning-fast reflexes. Ice Cube lends some heavier-than-a-Mack-truck screen presence as the leader of the Reapers, an African-American motorcycle gang that thinks Ford killed one of their members. Sexy Monet Mazur is great as Slade, the rough-and-tumble girl Ford left behind when he had to flee the country, and whose love he's now come back to reclaim. The thumping soundtrack includes offerings by Jane's Addiction, Nickelback, Kid Rock, and Hoobastank. There's nonstop trick camera work, fantastic stunts, and action set pieces--like one motorcycle chase that takes place on top of, in front of, and inside a train. Slade even gets to have a motorcycle cat-fight with the bad guy's girlfriend. Acclaimed music-video director Joseph Kahn pours creative energy into every yard of this no-nonsense popcorn movie, his first feature film. It acknowledges its junky exploitation roots proudly, and at times seems to achieve some sort of twisted new level of pop art with its well-paced, colorful, giddy, gritty forward momentum.
