Banjoist Harry Reser had one of the busiest careers in the mid-1920s when these 24 hot jazz titles were recorded (1926-28). These tunes were recorded for Brunswick, and were performed dynamically, but with discipline.

Personnel includes: Harry Reser (banjo); Tom Stacks (vocals, drums); Jimmy Johnston (bass saxophone); Larry Abbott, Norman Yorke (reeds); Earl Oliver, Tommy Gott (trumpet); Sammy Lewis (trombone); Bill Wirges (piano).

4 stars The spirit of the Roaring 20s
Harry Reser was one of the most prolific musicians of the 20s, and this collection of his work with the wacky Six Jumping Jacks (the 2nd in a series) is a wonderful introduction to his work. The CD is filled with fun, goofy novelty songs; the informative booklet has good notes, and the sound restoration is tastefully done. As with other releases on The Old Masters label the packaging is basic but tasteful.

5 stars Another great Reser CD!
The Six Jumping Jacks recordings on Brunswick were among the best of Harry Reser's recordings. Although they didn't feature his virtuoso banjo playing in the same way his solo recordings did, they did spotlight the fact that Reser was a master as a band leader and backup musician as well. Tom Stacks' singing along with the rest of the band's hot playing makes a great combination. The CD isn't over processed or "digital" sounding. It keeps the karma of the original 78s. Bravo!

Excellent---supurb recordings.What a wonderful band led by the great musician/Banjoist Harry Reser---non better. Also Excellent service from CD Universe.
