The cops want her testimony so that they can put her ex-lover behind bars, but they know he'll be trying to silence her permanently.
The Witness Relocation Program eventually hides her in the last place they think anyone would look: a convent. With nothing to do but lay low and kill time, the feisty, incognito nun starts to go a little stir-crazy -- that is, until the Mother Superior puts her in charge of the convent's choir. It's a hopeless group musically, but the former lounge lizard realizes she's found her calling and quickly whips her recruits into top R&B form. Meanwhile, her ex has found out where she's hiding and plans a visit with a few of his more "influential" friends. On-the-run after witnessing her Las Vegas mobster boyfriend kill someone, a tacky lounge singer (Whoopi Goldberg) enters the Witness Protection Program - as a nun. Now the convent needs protection, from the new Sister Mary Clarence and her Vegas-style ideas on how to run the choir. A charming comedy and one of Goldberg's best movies. Emile Ardolino was formerly a director on the PBS series, "Dance in America.. His breakthrough success was the sleeper hit "Dirty Dancing" (1987), which was Ardolino's feature film directorial debut.
The lead role in "Sister Act" was originally tailored for actress Bette Midler.
Reportedly, Whoopi Goldberg refused to promote the film; her reasons were unspecified.

Like other Pixar films, FINDING NEMO features a story with heart--this time, a father-and-son tale--and thoroughly charming leads--in this case, Marlin, Nemo, and Dory. And, of course, there's an army of fascinating supporting characters, including Bruce (Barry Humphries), a great white shark on a no-fish diet; Crush (director/screenwriter Stanton), a surfer-dude sea turtle; Peach (Allison Janney), a stuck-to-the-aquarium starfish; and Nigel (Geoffrey Rush), a bold pelican. However, what truly distinguishes NEMO from even its CGI cousins is its stunning depiction of aquatic life, from the colorful creatures on a coral reef to a blue whale on the vast expanse of the open ocean. By combining the aesthetic of a National Geographic marine life documentary with clever jokes and Hitchcock references, NEMO succeeds in its bid to up the ante for animated films yet again. Terry Dolittle (Whoopi Goldberg) is a brilliant but underappreciated data entry clerk who works for Manhattan's First National Bank under the watchful eye of her dictatorial boss Mr. Page (Peter Goetz). Terry often chats with clients via her terminal, which occasionally picks up Russian television. The tides of Terry's life turn when one day she picks up a transmission from a British spy trapped in Eastern Europe, who has the code name of Jumpin' Jack Flash; he enlists Terry's help in securing an exit contract, sending her on quirky excursions to help him escape and avoid foul play. Thus ensues a convoluted mission where Terry is on the run from the KGB, kidnapped while in a phone booth (phone booth and all), injected with a truth serum, and attempts to get a crucial message to Jack before the Russians have their way with him. She also manages to find love, get back at her boss, and do a great Mick Jagger impression to the fantastic soundtrack of music from the 60s. This is Whoopi in top form!

Based on a series of books by Patrick O'Brian, and directed by Peter Weir, MASTER AND COMMANDER plunges viewers deep into the story of a British Navy ship at sea during the Napoleonic war. Russell Crowe stars as Aubrey, the charismatic captain who wrestles with issues like honor, pride, duty, sacrifice and loyalty while using ingenious tactics to engage his prey--a much larger and better-equipped French Man o' War. Paul Bettany plays his friend, the ship's doctor, who cautions Aubrey about letting revenge cloud his judgment after the French Man o' War almost sinks them in an early battle. Before the incredibly intense final skirmish the men battle a raging storm, launch an excursion to the Galapagos Islands, find time for grog-enhanced merriment, and endure some primitive surgery. Weir fills the film with a rich wealth of period detail, convincing dialogue, and the same haunting, dreamlike mood that has informed his best films, such as PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, THE LAST WAVE and THE TRUMAN SHOW. The wealth of sounds and sights on display are so evocative one can practically smell the salt air and feel the heave of the ocean. Russell is intense and inspiring as Aubrey, and Bettany proves a worthy match. MASTER AND COMMANDER is another triumph for Weir, and further evidence of his ability to fuse poetic realism with rousing entertainment.
