Brooklyn rapper Az first came into the spotlight through a guest appearance on a Nas album, but since then, he's fully established himself as a formidable hip-hop artist in his own right. Like Nas, Az manages to maintain a high degree of street cred without resorting to thug imagery. To the contrary, Az's rhymes are fairly literate and relatively high-concept. Mind you, this isn't exactly, P.M. Dawn--Az doesn't shy away from the grittier aspects of street life--but there's enough brainpower at work here to raise 9 LIVES up above most of its competition. This is exemplified by the fact that Az seems genuinely interested in the lives of those around him, instead of just spilling out his own ego-driven emotions. On "What Cha Day About" he's downright solicitous of others in respect to their experiences. On "Love Me," Az states "what's most important is knowledge," which is a good starting place for anyone aiming to raise the consciousness of his peers.

 Take it from me
This is the poorest of AZ's albums but its still AZ yall. A true hip hop head knows AZ is a top 5 lyricist and that out shines bad production. There are a couple of hot track on this album. Still unless your a true AZ fan like I am I wouldnt suggest copping it. It doesn't have that play all the way through quality. Leave this one.

Ive heard AZ since his birth on Illmatic, Then a rapper without a deal was rappin with mass appeal, Blew it up but when he came out solo, people slept on him due to the lack of endorsment, but sales dont mean whack automaticaly, On 9 lives he proves that Sosa still got game like Sammy. Check the words, Check the flos, And this album has the best beats on an Az album ever. This album is a trunk Bumper, Dont miss out on one of the most slept on cat from Brooklyn, and anywhere else. Chicago Got his back.
