| | Molly Hog Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip CD Molly Hog Discography of CDs
Although leavened generously by Tad Doyle's innate sense and command of melody, and -- whether he'd admit to it or not -- pop songwriting, Hog Molly's debut album is a bone-crunching affair of bulldozing guitars, a walloping rhythm section, and Tad's unceremonious Leatherface-as-frontman vocals. Having fronted Seattle's famed grunge forerunners -- and Sub Pop stalwarts -- Tad, Doyle is quite a decorated veteran, having issued numerous albums on indie labels and majors. Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip not only boasts a great, peculiar name, but it's a testament that massively heavy rock, propelled by cranked Marshall's and pummeling drums, ain't dead, as the pundits had claimed. ~ Patrick Kennedy

Magnet (9-10/01, p.94) - "...Heavier and more Amphetamine Reptile-like than Tad ever was. And that's saying something..." CMJ (4/16/01, p.17) - "...A dirty, slightly sludgariffic, brash rock'n'roll album..." Mojo (Publisher) (6/01, p.96) - "...Tad Doyle guides Hog Molly through such thunderous gems as 'Heat Stroke' and 'Short Bus'...with a Sabbath-on-steroids sonic attack. His stuck-pig guitar squealing and rumbling redneck vocals ensure this is no lightweight listening..." NME (Magazine) (6/9/01, p.40) - 7 out of 10 - "...45 minutes of no-hoper doper thrash. Devour." NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that sums up its musical prowess humbly as "good," releases a staggering collection of B-sides, compilation tracks, and rare cuts (many of which were previously long out-of-print ...
| | Easy Star All-Stars Dub Side Of The Moon CD (2003)
Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip album
$10.99 The pun in the title gives the album's conceit away: This is, in fact, a dub-influenced take on Pink Floyd's classic DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. But while the idea may be groan-inducing, the results are actually quite appealing. All-Star founders Michael G. and Ticklah recruit a handful of guests, including Corey Harris, the Meditations, and Frankie Paul, ...

The album's tracks--and skits--effortlessly bounce between genres, styles, and tempos, ranging from dancehall ("Keep It Movin" with Elephant ...
| | Eric Clapton Me And Mr. Johnson CD (2004)
Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip CD music
$13.29 Eric Clapton and the blues have been inextricably linked dating back to his mid-1960s stint as a string-bending phenomenon in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. A decade after the release of his blues homage FROM THE CRADLE, Clapton's ME AND MR. JOHNSON pays tribute to his hero Robert Johnson. Rounding up a stellar backing crew, including Andy Fairweather-Low and Jerry Portnoy (both of whom appeared on CRADLE), Slowhand approaches the Johnson canon with a relaxed and confident touch.
Applying liberal amounts of slide and fuzz guitar, this English rock legend saunters along fare such as "Traveling Riverside ...
