| | Dazz Band 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection CD Dazz Band Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
The Dazz Band includes: Sennie "Skip" Martin (vocals, trumpet); Keith Harrison (vocals, keyboards); Kenny Pettus (vocals, percussion); Eric Fearman (guitar); Bobby Harris (saxophone); Pierre DeMudd (trumpet, background vocals); Steve Cox (keyboards); Michael Wiley (bass); Isaac "Ike" Wiley, Jr. (drums). Producers include: Reggie Andrews, Philip Bailey, Tommy Vicari, Ralph Johnson, The Dazz Band. Compilation producer: Harry Weinger. Originally released on Motown Records. Includes liner notes by A. Scott Galloway. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Michael Boddicker, Steve Cox (programming). Liner Note Author: A. Scott Galloway. An 11-song snapshot of the Dazz Band's Motown stint that includes the not-often-featured "To the Roof," whose origins date back to "Take It to the Woof" by Cleveland, OH-based funk band Morning Maniac led by ex-Dazz Band member Kenny Pettus who's the lead voice on the Earth, Wind and Fire-ish "I Might As Well Forget About Loving You." But other than that, there are no surprises, just straight-ahead digitally remastered Dazz Band blasts that blow you away in CD format ("Let It Whip"'s bassline is hypnotizing). For lovers, "Invitation to Love" and "Knock, Knock" are bonafide heart stirrers and the only two slow jams in the bunch. Not as complete as the 1994 Funkology: The Definitive Dazz Band but dazzling enough. ~ Andrew Hamilton 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection Music Dazz Band 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection Songs 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection Music Review Purchase 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Johnny Otis 1945-1947 CD (2002)

Magic Slim's only compilation from his most fruitful years on the well distributed and regarded Blind Pig label covers the period from 1990s Gravel Road through 2005's Anything Can Happen live set. That's six albums of material whittled down to 15 tracks yielding about an hour's worth of music. Since the guitarist rather doggedly stayed locked in the same ...

Arrangers: Chris Todd; Mario Basanov; Alix Alvarez; Miguel Migs; Rasmus Faber; Stuart Matthewman; Eric Stamile. Make no mistake, Miguel Migs is a master of sound. His particular brand of electronic dance music incorporates a variety of elements and influences, and he blends them brilliantly, creating a bright and colorful tonal palette that puts many of his colleagues to shame. Where he doesn't seem to stand out is in his ability to either write or inspire lyrics that are worth hearing. His latest artist album is filled with sharp rhythms, beautiful textures, and catchy melodies, but deep lyrical banality is a constant problem. Every eye-rolling dancefloor cliché is present in at least one song: from LT robotically intoning that she wants to "get down tonight" ("Get Down") to Tim Fuller informing you that "it's on tonight" and bleating "baby baby baby baby" ("Body Never Lies"), the words are a constant disappointment. Luckily the sassy and percolating beats make it easy to ignore that aspect of the music, especially on such booty-moving grooves as the title track and the startlingly funky "Fire," on which reggae singer Junior ...
