Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Sensor Matic Buffy is the bubbly blonde reincarnation of all those fearless vampire slayers of yore--or so she is told one day by a mysterious old man in a trench coat. Against her better judgment, she follows the would-be boot-maker to a graveyard, where she is tested in combat by a gruesome pair of newly minted bloodsuckers. Of course Buffy emerges victorious, but this ordeal is only the beginning of a series of deadly and protracted battles with the evil vampire Lothos and his legion of undead warriors. The spunky cheerleader may be L.A.'s only hope for survival. A fully accessorized L.A. high school cheerleader is informed by a mysterious stranger that she is destined to battle vampires. Soon she's wreaking havoc on a local chapter of bloodsuckers. But when the top vampire vows revenge, it totally fouls up her social schedule. Forerunner to the popular television series. Estimated budget $7 million; color by DeLuxe.
Paul Reubens was reportedly a last-minute substitute for Joan Chen in the role of Amilyn, Rutger Hauer's vampire sidekick. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reviews: "...Slight, good-humored....Swanson's funny, deadpan delivery holds the film together..."-- Janet Maslin, New York Times "...High-spirited....[Swanson] provides the ideal combination of energy and comic disdain that characterize a most unlikely savior..."

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Movie Review Average Rating: (3.2 out of 5 stars) Series Sucked! This is a great film. I Love It. Submitted by robobutt (Eaton Rapids, MI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
series is better if they used the people from the show like sara and everyone eles it would have been better this movie sucks biggggggggggggggggggggggggg time there was no point in making this movie Submitted by punkgurl (novato,ca usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Not the series but good... This movie is a lot better than people give it credit for. Not only are the big named stars awesome, but this is the movie that made me appreciate the talent of David Arquette. And to me the fact that the movie feels so dated now and is so distant from the TV Series in style makes this hilarious gem even more enjoyable these days. The Series is better Even though this movie does feature some would-be great actors, the movie is less intriguing than the Series and Sarah Michelle Geller does a much better job as a Teenager/Vampire Slayer. Submitted by a reviewer (Kinkos, N.Y, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Get "Slayed" Underrated film that launched the career of Kirsty Swanson (still a hottie a decade later), as well as, the jumping point for the series. The witty dialogue is here (i.e. , "That's so five minutes ago!", "Get out of my facial!", etc.), making the film a bit more funnier than the series (Buffy changes from the valleygirl dim-bulb to the angst teenager she turns out to be in the series at the films end). Also keep your eyes peeled for David Arquette ("Scream" trilogy) as Pike's friend Benny, Hilary Swank ("Insomnia" and oscar winner for "Boys Don't Cry") as one of Buffy's friends, and Ben Affleck (yes, that Affleck. Oscar winner for "Good Will Hunting" and "Daredevil"). Happy Staking! Submitted by a reviewer (Sunnydale, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Buffy The Vampire Slayer film
$12.85 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods in this genre. Based on the Lupin comics by the artist Monkey Punch, CAGLIOSTRO is a great heist/chase film that surpasses most similar live action fare and breezes by with more than a couple of inventive set pieces, ...

| | Death To Smoochy DVD (2002) Widescreen
Buffy The Vampire Slayer film
$10.09 Robin Williams goes berserk as Rainbow Randolph, the disgraced host of a children's television show, in director Danny DeVito's fast-paced satire, DEATH TO SMOOCHY. Busted by the Feds for accepting a bribe to get a child on his show, Randolph gets booted from his network, Kidnet, and is replaced by the earnest do-gooder Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norton), who plays Smoochy, a loveable pink rhino with a strong resemblance to Barney. Sheldon sums up his own personality with a classic line, "When my brothers and I played cowboys and Indians, I was always the Chinese railroad worker." As Sheldon becomes a superstar, Randolph plots his revenge. Sheldon's refusal to push cheap toys and sugary drinks angers the Kidnet execs, especially tough-as-nails Nora (Catherine Keener). Sheldon also runs up against the Irish mob and his agent (DeVito) gets him into trouble with a corrupt charity. Meanwhile, Nora finds herself falling for the principled performer.
Robin Williams is amazing, completely shedding his "nice guy" persona and making the shockingly foulmouthed kiddie show host simultaneously hilarious and frightening. Norton does a great job of winning the audience over to his buffoonish but truly good hearted character. He and Keener lend heart to the scathingly funny script by Adam Resnick.
Catherine Keener, Danny DeVito, Edward Norton, Jon Stewart, Pam Ferris, Robin Williams - Director: Danny DeVito Randolph Smiley has it all--as the costumed star of the highest rated kid's show on TV, "Rainbow Randolph" has a Manhattan ...
