| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
King Of The Jungle CD music
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ...

King Of The Jungle CD music
$10.15 At a time when the world is a very uncertain place and people seem to have trouble settling their differences, it is important to remember the things that we have in common and that bring together people of all nations.Music has long been used in this manner. Whether for sacred or secular purposes, it unites people in a shared emotion and understanding.Bajuco strives to blend the sounds and styles of different cultures, both traditional and modern, hoping to bring their listeners together to share an admiration, respect and celebration for the world's musical diversity. Todd Marston (melodica, accordion) was born in Brooklyn, Connecticut in 1981. He began studying the piano at age five, mostly studying classical technique. However, it was not until he was first exposed to jazz at age fifteen, that he discovered his true passion for the instrument. While still in high school, Todd formed a jazz trio that performed throughout Northern Connecticut and the Worchester, MA area. He also studied with acclaimed pianist Dick Odgren for three years prior to attending classes at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While at Berklee, Todd experimented with many different avenues of composition and performance, and studied privately with Laszlo Gardony, Joanne Brackeen, David Hazeltine, and Stephanie Tiernan. Todd was drawn to the melodica in the summer of 2002 after seeing pianist Danilo Perez play one at a performance in Boston. He began searching for like-minded musicians who were willing to explore alternate instrumentations for jazz/world music performance. With these efforts, Bajuco was born and ever since, Todd has kept up a continuous output of compositions written specifically for this band's eclectic and ever-changing instrumentation. He currently resides in Brighton, MA, and is busy performing, writing, and teaching music.Born in 1973, Tev Stevig (strings)grew up on the Central Coast of California. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, he enrolled in the Berklee College of Music in Boston. While there, he had the opportunity to study with many great musicians, including Mick Goodrick, Hal Crook, Dave Santoro, John Damien, ...
| | Ela Long Period Events CD (2007)
King Of The Jungle music CDs
$11.39 If Brian Eno, Paul Horn, and Harry Partch collaborated in the caverns of an active volcano, they might come up with something like what award-winning artist, instrument inventor, and musician Ela Lamblin, with producer Tucker Martine and guest artist Vishal Nagar, has created on his new CD, Long Period Events. This album takes its name from the work of volcanologist Bernard Chouet. Lamblin learned of Chouet’s work through a PBS documentary on methods to predict volcanic eruptions. Chouet discovered that the pattern of sounds coming from deep in the earth before an eruption create an occurrence of “long period events,” a sort of musical prelude to the main event, the eruption. When the long period events occur in rapid succession, a sustained signal results. The volcano then is literally singing its tune, its siren song: “I'm under pressure here. I’m going to blow at the top.” Uncannily Lamblin invented his musical instrument the Violcano – a large resonating steel cone strung with piano wire strings, like a cross between a volcano and a viola – before he knew that volcanoes make music. Bowed, hammered, or plucked, the Violcano produces a variety of percussive grooves, cascading harmonics, and cello-like melodies, evocative of something vast and old, well suited to Lamblin’s globally influenced, modal, raga-based style.Lamblin, forever curious about vibration as it relates to energy, form, mass, and the universe, is a specialist in exploiting various shapes and materials to generate acoustic vibrational activity. ...
