Not to overdo The Left Banke comparison, but any fan of that group will enjoy this a lot as well, as it has a similar fusion of pure pop hooks, imaginative baroque orchestration, and fragile romantic songwriting. The David have more of a rock drive, however, are more apt to employ period psychedelic flourishes (such as the wobbling distorted guitar riffs on "Mirrors of Wood"), and take on more whimsical, less personal lyrical concerns. The beautiful, suite-like title cut, the organ-powered "Sweet December," and "Now to You" are highlights. A 2001 CD reissue on Jamie adds a couple of previously unreleased songs. ~ Richie Unterberger
The cult following for this California-based psychedelic band will be thrilled to have a remastered, remixed version of one of their favorite albums. It includes two never before released bonus tracks.
Digitally remastered by Greg Vaughn and Tom Moulton.
Recorded at Sound Recorders, Hollywood and American Recording Co, Studio City, California in 1967. Includes liner notes by Steve Kolanjian and Warren Hansen.
The David: Warren Hansen (vocals, organ); Mark Bird (guitar); Chuck Spieth (bass); Tim Harrison (drums).

| | Music Emporium CD (1969)
Another Day, Another Lifetime music CDs
$11.69 Digitally remastered by Bob Irwin (Sundazed Studios, Coxsackie, New York).
The Music Emporium's sole release is a fair psychedelic obscurity, best when it goes heaviest on the dreamy melodic elements and Carolyn Lee does the singing. "Velvet Sunsets" and "Gentle Thursday," for instance, sound a ...
| | Milkwood Tapestry CD (1969)
Another Day, Another Lifetime songs
$11.59 Although ostensibly a duo, Milkwood Tapestry's sole album is not, by any means, strictly or merely a folkie's record, although folk music certainly instructs its sound, particularly the British Isles strain with its flourishes of medieval instrumentation and Baroque lyricism. Roland Antonelli and Joseph Ransohoff's sound and style would have certainly been quite different had it not been for the example of the Incredible String Band. That band's influence is particularly heard in the later, quite wonderfully and idiosyncratic acoustic songs added as bonus tracks to this outstanding Gear Fab CD reissue. Garnished by delicate recorder and cello (and occasionally harpsichord) accompaniment, these previously unreleased songs sound, paradoxically, as if ...
| | Clear Light CD (1967)
Another Day, Another Lifetime album
$11.59 Kind of a minor league version of the Doors, Clear Light were a West Coast phenomenon, and although they didn't last too long, were an interesting group. A very good slice of Los Angeles psychedelia, Clear Light were a six-piece band that combined folk, rock, psychedelia, and even a touch of classical to their sound. The end result, though, is a little ponderous and pretentious, but strangely listenable. The big hit off this album (produced by Paul Rothchild and engineered by Bruce Botnick) was "Mr. Blue," a psychedelic folk song written by Tom Paxton. It's over six-minutes ...

Another Day, Another Lifetime CD music
$10.99 This edition of REBIRTH includes material released by 2 predecessor bands, The Stoics and The Mind's Eye. Also includes bonus tracks originally released as 45's.
The first half of Rebirth is a rather phenomenal document: mood-driven and densely textured psychedelia at its very best. "Daybreak" opens the album with what seems to be a fairly quaint ditty until its controlled eruptions of orchestration, unique and enticing, cause the music to grow in dimension. "Maypole" also initially ...
