The real reason for my ordering this set was to hear Echoes of Blue, which I fisrst heard over 20 years ago.. Driving, beautiful, melodic, tight and stunning jazz, with Freddie Hubbard's distinctive sound. All the musicians jell. Submitted by marcusaldrich (Newtown, CT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Those were the days "Sing me a Song of Songmy" is a unique work. It represents the strong political feeeling of the beggining of the seventies as well as the daring attitude of some musicians to explore new sonic territories. This is the only record by Freddie Hubbard that is totally experimental. Poetry, free jazz and electronic textures made of this recording an outstanding work back in 1971 but today, 2004, it still sounds innovative. As for "Echoes of Blue", well, it is another good jazz record, among thousands. Submitted by capitanpijama (Mexico City) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Sing Me A Song Of Songmy/Echoes Of Blue album
$9.65 In late 1999, the Dutch label KonKurrent invited Minneapolis band Low into an in-house studio to record one of the label's near-legendary In the Fishtank sessions; bands have two days to record between 20-30 minutes of all new material of their choosing. Also touring at the time were Low's pals, the Australian instrumental dynamos the Dirty Three. Low invited them in, and in the same collaborative spirit as another In the Fishtank ...

Sing Me A Song Of Songmy/Echoes Of Blue music CDs
$14.15 On A Few Miles from Memphis, recorded by pianist Harold Mabern in 1968, he's joined by tenors George Coleman and Buddy Terry, bassist Bill Lee, and drummer Walter Perkins for a bluesy, rhythm-filled set featuring familiar fare like "A Treat for Bea" and fun originals like "Walkin' Back." There's also the odd inclusion of "There's a Kind of Hush," a pop song that comes out sounding like an old standard here. ~ Ronnie D. Lankford Jr.
When record labels like Prestige release two albums on one CD, it's a great bargain for music fans. A Few Miles from Memphis combines the album of the same name and Rakin' and Scrapin', ...

$19.99 Raven presents the very best of Solomon Burke's recordings for MGM in the 1970s, many on CD for the first time.
