Celebrate the Bullet failed to live up to the promise of the band's debut. It has its moments but those can all be found on the collection, Selected Selecter Selections. In 2001, Captain Oi! reissued the album with four bonus tracks. ~ Chris Woodstra
This album reached No.41 in the UK National Charts when first issued by Chrysalis Records in 1980 and now makes it's debut on CD courtesy of Captain Mod. Features the hit single ''The Whisper'' plus the rare 45 ''Celebrate The Bullet'' and a great version of The Ethiopians ''Train To Skaville''. Deluxe packaging includes liner notes by George Marshall and pictures of many rare overseas singles sleeves. There may be loads of Selecter re-issue CD's out there but only ''Too Much Pressure'' and ''Celebrate The Bullet'' are the real thing!
Includes liner notes by George Marshall.Q (11/01, p.144) - 3 out of 5 stars - "...Probably the best music of their career..." Celebrate The Bullet Music Selecter Celebrate The Bullet Songs | 1. | Celebrate the Bullet | $0.99 | |

Celebrate The Bullet CD music
$17.99 At the time of its release, Too Much Pressure was relegated to second-class status behind the debut records by Madness and the Specials. Now it's easy to see that this record was the equal to the Specials record, and (this will be widely disputed) better than the first (and second) Madness records. Pauline Black is the key and she makes songs like "On My Radio" and the title track classic chunks of Caribbean-influenced pop rather than mere stylistic mimicry. Much better than the weak second record, Celebrate the Bullet, or the 1989 anthology, Selected Selecter Selections. ~ John Dougan
Unfortunately, this is not a reissue of Selecter's classic debut album, but instead a collection of some of that album's cuts along with some live recordings. ~ Joslyn Layne
First time on CD for this legendary album, originally issued in 1980 at the very peak of the Two Tone label's U.K. fame, and destined for immediate chart success -- the album reached number five in Britain -- a ...

$11.35 Produced by Elvis Costello, this self-titled 1979 debut quickly became gospel to the wave of ska then sweeping England. Infusing the catchy, jumpy music developed by artists like the Skatalites and Prince Buster a generation before them with punk's youthful disenfranchisement, bands like the Specials, the Selecter and Madness gave birth to a movement, one which strove for such noble goals as racial unity (then a particularly sore issue in Britain) and non-violence. | | Jack Radics Open Rebuke CD (1994)
Celebrate The Bullet music CDs
$27.95 One of the more intriguing vocalists to emerge from the '80s dancehalls, Jack Radics initially established his reputation with lovers numbers but, once the scene shifted, he proved equally adept at penning potent cultural material. Open Rebuke is arguably the apex of his work, at least on album, and takes its title from the Proverbs verse that open rebuke is better than a secret love. Radics' reading is literal, and thus he eschews relationships altogether, while a number of songs are precisely what the title suggests. Naturally, this includes the title track itself, on which he adamantly declares, "It is my business as your brethren to show you if you're going astray," and he proceeds to do just that. "Live Fast, Die Young" is intended as a word of warning, but so anthemic is the chorus that the young gunslingers inevitably chose to hear it as a glorification of their culture. "Step 'Cross the Border" and "Purify" are lessons in righteousness, while other songs are devotional offerings, with David's paean to Solomon's reign and God's glories brought to musical life on "Psalm 72." Two of the most inspired ...

| | George Sawyn Sawyn,George Vol. 2-Christmas Moods CD (2008)
Celebrate The Bullet songs
$15.19 The simplicity of the first Christmas begs for simple songs when it’s celebrated today. It sometimes begs for originality, too, as one familiar carol after another floats through our worlds from shopping malls and radio stations. In Christmas Moods Vol. II, George Sawyn has given us deceptively simple songs, all but one with new arrangements by George himself. Even the exception is an improvisation done with fellow musician Jon Novi. Whether the delightfully reflective Coventry Carol, the sweet purity of Silent Night, the rollicking Deck the Halls or the almost rakish Up On the Housetop, George has taken familiar tunes and put his own stamp upon them, allowing the melodies to float in and out between their expected territories and a parallel universe of melody and harmony. Listeners will experience the “aha!” of recognition, followed quickly by the “wow!” of Sawyn’s creative meanderings. In this album, George has combined his experience as a seasoned Chicago musician, with the comfortable, laid-back sounds he’s always loved and that have been encouraged by his recently-begun love affair with Door County, Wis., the “hometown” he says he’s always been looking for. In Christmas Moods Vol. II, George plays guitar his way, letting it take the spotlight as the enchanting solo instrument it can be when strings are more than strummed, they’re coaxed individually to sing. The following comes from George's own CD liner notes:1) Angels We Have Heard On High - an improvisation on this song, recorded step by step, a little at a time, using 3 different guitars: acoustic classical, acoustic steel string, and electric jazz guitar.2) The Coventry Carol - improvisations and reharmonizations of this beautiful old holiday song.3) Deck The Halls - originally included on the first “Christmas Moods” CD; this alternate version uses the same computer looped percussion track made up entirely with sounds produced on guitars, but two completely different guitar tracks.4) On The River Jordan - originally included on the “Happy Holidays” CD of Ukrainian holiday music. This version uses the same “string trio” synthesizer tracks, but has newly recorded guitar parts.5) Angels We Have Heard On High - this is a completely unrehearsed improvisation ...
