 Porgy and Bess review Product Description
One of the few productions of PORGY AND BESS to be released on video, this 1993 release is directed by the acclaimed stage director Trevor Nunn. With a stellar cast of performers including Willard White, Cynthia Haymon, and Gregg Baker, Nunn injects new life into the classic Gershwin opera. The London Philharmonic and The Glyndebourne Chorus add wonderful accompaniment to this historic black musical.

| Porgy and Bess
This is a good production, but I would like to have the movie released in the 1950s. I hope someday the writers will change their mind and release it.

| Good but not the Best
I have seen this version many times only because I can not get the version that starred Sidney Poitier, Sammy Davis, Pearl Bailey and Lou Brock and so many other talented and great actors and performers.

| The Porgy and Bess DVD
The quality and the sound of the DVD was great. I also enjoyed the performances and thought that all of the performers had wonderful voices

| Don't be confused
Porgy and bess is an Opera, The original form is presented in this DVD, as George Gerhwin composed it. The film of the 50's with Poitier is a MIXTIFICATION ,and is not "original" in any sense.

| A very important Musical, carries a timeless message
This Musical was everything I expected and more. The type casting was splended!! The acting was most moving!! Porgy's facial expressions I'll carry in my heart forever.
