| | Richard Thompson Daring Adventures CD - Import Richard Thompson Discography of CDs
Though it's one of his least-acclaimed albums, DARING ADVENTURES is one of Richard Thompson's most powerful and consistent efforts. It finds him at the beginning of his Mitchell Froom-produced period, but Froom's keyboards and trademark style had not yet pulled Thompson fully away from his vintage Richard & Linda/SHOOT OUT THE LIGHTS approach. The songs are among Thompson's strongest; as ever, he looks askance at romance in a manner both wry ("Valerie," "Baby Talk") and mournful ("Missie How You Let Me Down," "Jennie"). He's equally comfortable name-checking Scritti Politti and dedicating a song to pre-WWII crooner Al Bowlly, and delving into both blazing guitar leads and delicate acoustic folk settings. Buoyed by a stellar rhythm section including bassist Jerry Scheff and drummer Jim Keltner, Thompson doesn't put a foot wrong throughout DARING ADVENTURES.
1986 album produced by Mitchell Froom. Froom replaced Thompson's usual rhythm section with top-shelf session players Jerry Scheff on bass and Mickey Curry on drums plus Jim Keltner on three cuts.
Personnel includes: Richard Thompson, Jim Keltner, Mickey Curry, Jerry Scheff.
Personnel: Richard Thompson (vocals, hammer dulcimer, mandolin, Theremin); Mitchell Froom (piano, Hammond b-3 organ, Theremin); Jerry Scheff (upright bass, electric bass); Jim Keltner, Mickey Curry (drums); Alex Acuña (percussion).

While many bands lumped under the nu-metal banner seem to rely on angry posturing and shock tactics to sell records, Staind has quietly and consistently topped the sales and radio charts with a stripped-down and emotionally direct approach devoid of gimmickry. On the group's third album 14 SHADES OF GREY, singer Aaron Lewis and crew deliver a distinctly organic-sounding, mature disc that ...
| | Soul Of Chris Thomas King: The Roots CD (2003)
Daring Adventures songs
$12.19 Recorded and released in 2003, the "Year of the Blues," Chris Thomas King's The Roots is a tribute album of originals and covers celebrating Leadbelly, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Son House, and Robert Johnson. With King leaving his hip-hop blues visions in the laboratory, this is a tried and true recording of traditional blues music played mostly on a lone acoustic or National steel guitar. King's performances of tunes like James' "Hard Time Killing Floor" and "Cypress Grove" may feel a little reverential, but only on first listen. King's reads of these tunes are through the eyes of a younger man who grew up with this music as a monolith. This sounds especially true of his performances of Blind Willie Johnson's (whose character he played in Wim Wenders' film Soul ...
