Mouldy Five Featuring Sammy Rimington album
$14.80 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon, but King hardly pushes Norah in a rock direction; ...

Mouldy Five Featuring Sammy Rimington CD music
$10.99 Much like 2001's SONGS I HEARD and 2004's ONLY YOU, 2009's YOUR SONGS finds vocalist/pianist Harry Connick, Jr. coming up with an urbane, passionate set of American popular standards and contemporary pop classics that he both performs and orchestrates. While his previous recordings leaned toward the classicist side--ONLY YOU featured songs of the '50s and '60s--YOUR SONGS features a more eclectic mix of standards ...

| | Helen Baylor My Everything CD (2002)
Mouldy Five Featuring Sammy Rimington music CDs
$14.35 Helen Baylor's 2002 release, My Everything, is the popular award-winning artist's first studio album in five years. Often compared to Roberta Flack because of her deep, rich vocal tones, Baylor delivers an album that carries more of a contemporary Christian music feel versus gospel, but true fans of this talented vocalist should enjoy it just the same. Included are heartfelt ballads such as "Outside These Walls" and "It's O.K. to Cry," along with the up-tempo rocker "Take It Up" and the urban-textured track "Harambee," the latter featuring Baylor and Mr. "Butterfly Kisses," Bob Carlisle. Her cover of the James Taylor pop classic "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" has its moments. But the real highlight of this project is Baylor's duet with the Winans' Marvin Winans on the soulful title track, "My Everything." Overall, just hearing Helen Baylor's voice is worth the price of admission. ~ Tim A. Smith

| | Nick Colionne Just Come On In CD (2003)
Mouldy Five Featuring Sammy Rimington songs
$13.49 With the release of the guitarist's Three Keys Music debut, the label invites smooth jazz and funk enthusiasts to an exciting, funky party that's been happening in the Chicago area for many years. Likening his own diverse musical pedigree (gigs with Natalie Cole, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green) to the similar sensibilities of R&B/jazz great and studio legend Paul Jackson, Jr., Nick Colionne thought it would be appropriate to ask Jackson to play rhythm guitar on the whimsical, cool, funk-edged "High Flyin'," whose all-star lineup includes percussionist Lenny Castro, bassist Richard Patterson (from David Sanborn's band), trumpeter Orbert Davis, keyboardist John Blasucci, and the Hammond B-3 organ of Ricky Peterson. Most of the collection's other 12 tracks feature the tight ensembling of Colionne's longtime bandmates Brian Danzy (keyboards), Dave Hiltebrand (bass), and Ernie Adams (drums). The heavy bass and organ-driven, blues-funk blast "2BD" was helmed by Three Keys Music president and jazz keyboardist Marcus Johnson, who also co-wrote the disc's lone vocal tune, the lush, urban, adult contemporary-oriented "Is It a Dream" with singer Cynthia Hardy; the track was produced by Johnson and Henry Allen with Colionne. Colionne's Wes Montgomery influence has been obvious with fans and critics alike, and ...
